You'll have to deal with it eventually. That, and Gravity (unless you got rid of it). But, anyway, do you think we should have mana/power/etc costs? How do they work?

You acquire mana from various sources, and spend it to place creatures, artifacts or places; to cast spell cards.
Like, for example, A weak Zombie may only cost a single Dark Mana. You have ten or so, so you put down the card and reduce your Dark Mana by one. Now you have a Zombie. The various sources could be things like Artifacts (Holy Totems/Lanterns that produce Light, or Springs that produce Water Mana). Also various Places (The Temple of Solomon could produce Light Mana, or A Necropolis could produce Dark) and Terrain Effects (Heavenly Radiance, which causes the glory of the sun to bear down on the field for several turns; you gain Light Mana based on the Light Creatures on the field. Or Maddening Moon; You gain Dream Mana for every creature that is under the effects of a Nightmare or Confusion effect). Or even creatures. (A plant monster than turns a Light Mana into Plant Mana, Or a Atomie, which creates a White Mana every few turns). We'd have to test out the cards to determine the ease at which you gain mana.

Hm. Okay. So, how do you propose we conduct this test?
Want a test run?

We'd need to mesh out the rules for a few more things, then makes some cards.
Places: Generally, these affect the entire playing field. Multiple ones can coexist, but only if the elements in question don't conflict. You could have The Lost Forest (Plant) and Coastal Reef (Water) on the same field, (Just imagine a mixture of the two across the field) with both sides being affected by both. However, if you tried to put the Plague Pits (Poison) on the field with the Lost Forest (Plant), the forest would be destroyed. Likewise, if you tried to put the Grand Mountains (Earth) on the field, the Lost Forest (Plant) would crush it. Artifacts: These can be free-standing cards that produce some effect (Such as A Tomb that makes Dark Mana) or equitable items (Nemean Lion Skin). Terrain Effects: Semi-permanent spell effects that alter the field in some way. These range from spells that disadvantage a certain element (Hurricane, which weakens Earth creatures) or give some advantage (Free Flight, which gives all Air creatures Flight). Spells: One-time effects that produce some effect (Fireballs, Invisibility, etc). May be more effective if used when a Spellcasting Creature of the appropriate element is on the field (Casting Fireball with a Salamander Shaman or something would be more effective). So, let's just rush into this. Card time?

Um, sure. I'm fairly certain rushing into it won't be entirely disastrous.

So..
How should we go about this? Use the card maker?

Sure. How many should we each start with?

A reasonable number for the deck. Twenty-Thirty.
Draw five, then another one each turn.

Okay, sounds good.
Do we just pick what creatures we want, or should we come up with some mechanism for determining ahead of time?

Assign each card a number, then use a random number gen. Pick that one.
Let's say, 25. Make sure to include things other than creatures. Oh.. Right.. How many Life Points should we start out with?

Okay, so...the random number gen determines which cards I take, out of ALL potential cards (ie all 600-some-odd Pokemon), or out of a selection that I make (ie I only want to pick out of selection 1-50)?
And Life Points? Maybe go with Yu-Gi-Oh values? I think they start with 5000. Unless that's too high. Or too low...

Out of the cards you have selected to play with (The Deck of 25~ cards you draw from during the game).
Depends on how we wish to scale it. 5000~ would mean most creatures would have fairly high Power/Toughness values. (Like around 1500~3000) M:TG starts at 20, with most creatures being in the low numbers of Power/Toughness. But we're doing this to experiment with the current rules. So whatever strikes your fancy.

Okay, so we choose our own 25. Fine with me.
And I only chose 5000, because of Yu-Gi-Oh's rules (from what I recall...). But, if Magic: The Gathering is closer to the system we're using, I think the 20 is smarter. So, I can just come up with what choices I have for cards, and you'll churn out the cards?

Twenty Five cards, each with a number. Random Number Gen determines which ones you draw to start and each turn.
So, you want me to make the cards?

Yes, please. Cards would be nice; I'd do it myself, but I'm still working on Warriors of Myth Wiki's elemental realignment.
My 25 coming up momentarily.

A couple things I may need help on, though, in the meantime. What about status changes (as in, what status changes are possible)? And what's the max number of abilities each creature can have (two or three)?

Status changes should be possible. If you mention what they do. :P
Elements have twice power/toughness versus whatever they're strong to, and half against their weakness. (Forgot to mention this earlier). As many abilities as is sensible. I found a thing that makes M:TG style cards. I'll just have to edit in the elemental cost symbols in the top right corner.

Oh, cool card!
But, basically, you could have Asleep, Paralyzed, Burned, Poisoned, Frozen, Blinded, Stunned, or Dazed/Confused. Each is self-explanatory. And I'll try to stay with 1 as my min, 2 as medium, and 3 as my max.

Hey, do you know if you could find some symbols for the elements?
