Honestly, we had character bloat from the inception.

I think most of the characters can stay, we just need to sort them into ones that we are currently using and ones that we aren't.

That way, there remains the possibility of pulling old characters from the dingy archives and breathing new life into them.

 That's true.

I like that idea.

Not to mention, this will be one of those that runs a tad long (definitely more than one thread), so we'll have room for some of everyone. Though, again, some will also change in importance, or in role, or in backstory.

Like, I'm wondering how Flores meets up with the group if he was once an Overlord. And I'm not sure how to include Tamara McShay without retelling the same story that was told about her before.

We need to look at the things that we're going to preserve and those we will not.

Yes, I could definitely use some help with that.

So, did you have anything immediately in mind?

Because I don't want to be that person that's all 'no, you can't touch my baby'. I think I'm ready to make some hard decisions. Just nothing that changes the story TOO drastically.

Though, some changes to make the story beginning and progression more coherent, more entertaining and whatnot, couldn't hurt.

Well.

There will be a stone.

Is it the stone, or not? If so, does it do anything, or not?

Who are the main characters? Why are they together? What are the up to?

The first overlord will be who? How will they interweave with the actions of our heroes?

It will be The Stone. And it will give off radiation, but I'm not sure if I want it to work. Part of me wants it to just give off the equivalent of a person whose only 'power' is to register on a power-sensor's perceptions. Another part of me does actually want it to work. *sigh* Oh, well, regardless, the radiation is harmless, far as anyone knows. Not potentially carcinogenic or otherwise harmful. Whether it bestows empowerment still remains to be seen.

What I do know is that the main characters are Jack, Pierce, Tessa, Ivan, Fitz and Nadia. They're friends (how they meet up, still working on...).

Though, here's where I think I may diverge from the original story. The original started out in Arizona for some reason. And the supers went looking for the stone, only to be confronted by Wayne, etc.

This time, I was thinking that one of the group might overhear Wayne talking on his phone to some contact, talking with somebody about the Stone. Then, whoever overhears gets the idea to get it first.

And from there, I draw a blank. Not sure where they find the Evolutionist's Stone. Not sure if I should keep Gorak as the Stone's guardian. My guess is no, but even with that, I have no other feasible person to put in his place. And also no reason for a superhuman to guard it, while knowing it's a dud.

I had a hard time distinguishing between some of those characters.

As did I. In fact, the main reason I never got through reading it all was because I couldn't keep track of who was who and where each person was or what their power was.

 Well, we can keep track with LOC and KCoM. So, we can try to keep character number low until enough character development is done, this time around. Then move on to slow expansion, from the original few.

Actually, there are a lot of gods I can't remember in LoC...Most of them in fact.

 Same here; I was thinking I was the only one. And I don't remember a whole heck of a lot of characters in KCoM.

Though, I think maybe if you guys actually take on characters like we did for the LOC Beta, and you guys give them whatever personality you want, do you think you could keep better track of characters?

I never really had that problem with LoC. At least, when people restrained themselves from creating more characters than they could personify.

If I was invested? Yes, I;d probably pay more attention.

 If that's a jab at me, I think I could actually take that in stride.

Yes, if you were invested, but also if I took a bit of time to develop existing characters, before moving on and adding new ones.

Also, if I was careful not to add too many.
