I want to call making Djinn, Slimes, and the Alchemist Stone. I need to wait for a certain spot in the plot to create them though.

Most definitely  I grew up with the Aladdin version

So Blue skin, lower body able to take on gaseous state allowing flight, innate magical ability.

Feel free to make a more accurate version I suppose

Maybe size changing and fully gaseous body at will as well now that I think about it, for lamp purposes.

 I grew up with it, too. And then grew out of it.

Skin color's not a problem (except they can be nearly any color), and neither is the size thing, and basically it's derived from magic, so not many abilities are off limits.

*sigh* I guess the bastardizations aren't so far off after all...

Long as you add in their colorful interpretation of wishes, at least.

There will be a wish related thing, but the Djinn I described will be an actual race so they won't be granting wishes for everybody.

Remember, I know about the ACTUAL djinni? The ones who don't all grant wishes?

Try just allowing them to change into a gaseous state, and derive most of their abilities from that.

Shrink? Turn into smoke and reform smaller.
Grow? Turn into smoke and reform larger.
Fly? Turn into smoke and hover away.
Shape-shift? Turn into smoke and reform differently.

Then make it so that anyone who captures them can get three favors from them.

You don't even need to make them warp reality. Just having three services from something with the above outlined abilities would be useful.

You could also give them a form of magic that allows them to conjure objects into being, and little else.

They could pull dishes of tasty food out of the air, or conjure a palace with the wave of their hand...

But...

These things are only semi-permanent, at best, and tend to collapse if you hit them to hard or squint at them the wrong way.

Oh, and they could be a techni-color population, like the Fair Goddess's people.

Some of the more infamous ones may even be known by that..  "The Dreaded Red Djinn of the West".

I don't really want to make these a wish granting people, I have something else planned involving that. I also would rather keep them blue-skinned only. I think Wulf wants to make other Djinn types now.

I think I'll have one of their main abilities be the gaseous form, but all of my races have access to some base magic due to the Well of Eternity, but I think having them have greater skill with wind magics would make sense.
