 There's nothing stupid about it, if you ask me.

Assuming you channel One Year of True Life through Ability Access, rather than Omnipotent Power Mimicry, you could actually use the nine remaining ability 'slots' to stack up on regenerative powers. Or even stack up on powers to emulate a certain Doctor, and then wait for your year to be up, upon which time, you die, and then your Gallifreyan physiology takes hold, and you regenerate/reincarnate/are not dead anymore.

Good point. You'd have to merge your selves or somehow link their fates together. I'd have the same problem in NB.

On the other hand, though, that could be an advantage; clone yourself and allow one to die; you reincarnate into a new body, but the other body remains alive and well, allowing you to continue your work while another body matures. You could reincarnate into as many people as you like, simultaneously.

For the first comparison,  I'd say the Justice League.  They're more powerful as a whole, they have more versatility, and they have the Flash.

As for the John Stewart role, I'd have to go with Idris Elba. I think he's a better actor, although the Rock could pull off a notable performance.

Sadly, I have to say Justice League, too. While I like the Avengers more, for what they stand for (a striving for strength, rather than being already at the pinnacle of power), the Justice League's pinnacle of power still gets the job done. In essence, they have more superpowered folks than normals, and normals are nice (to make normal humans feel good about themselves, among other things), but supers are often more effective.

Couldn't have said it better, myself.   I too prefer the Avengers over the JLA, but when crises arise, the JLA brings far more talent to the table.

As much as I prefer Marvel over DC, I must choose JLA because this is one circumstance in which their ridiculous power levels would work better than the Avengers' relatively balanced ones.

However, if you are including Sentry and House of M-level Scarlet witch, I must choose Avengers; they are preferable and in this presumption, they have access to complete reality manipulation and matter/energy manipulation, either of which would eliminate almost any threat.
