I think Myself was replying to my original question here.

@Myself - what are your thoughts on copying a power.  Does that constitute an attack?

Generally, I would agree.   I can think of one time where copying equates to theft, though.  Anyone remember Kevin Mitnick?  He was convicted of computer theft, even though he only copied data that didn't belong to him.  He didn't steal it in the classic sense.

Well yeah.   When you copy something that is copyrighted or classified then it's still considered stealing.
Because you're robbing the other out of potential revenue, or cause problems by revealing secrets.

Like I bet some of the NSA felt attacked by Edward Snowden's betrayal.

"Oh Subtlety, thy name is Shadowulf"

In response to your question, Captain Planet would seem like a good myth to fully explore.  I like the general idea, I would just make 2 recommendations... (1) get a good writer to pump out scripts that use a more advanced vernacular.  I only caught a few episodes when it aired and boy were they painful to watch; (2) keep a good, moderate perspective on the whole environmental ethos.  I think everyone is in agreement that we must execute good, reasonable steps to protect our environment, however there are some factions that take it too far, IMHO.

As for what mythology I'd like to see get some good intellectual and creative resources applied to it - G Force (aka, Battle of the Planets, Science Ninja Team Gatchaman).  I would love to see a full length feature film, followed by a well executed series that contains A list actors and copious amounts of CGI aerial combat.

Oh god, give it the same treatment as Speed Racer and it would be amazing.

I'd give Big O it's third season. Change nothing.

 Subtlety is overrated.

But, yeah, I'd actually like to see the environmental issues taken on in a WAY more subtle, WAY less preachy way. Also, yes, modernized and realistic to the present day. Like, maybe some things that require actual strategy, rather than Captain Planet coming in and fighting and whatnot all the time. Something definitely deeper than just basic superhero stuff.

Not to mention, I'd like to see The Wonder Twins and the other abandoned members of the Super Friends (Apache Chief--with a different name, of course-- Samurai and Eldorado) get their own show. Not as the sidekicks of the big superhero names, but as their own group. Again, modernized and realistic to the present day. Upgrade the cheesy costumes, get rid of the stereotypical racial portrayals, beef up their powers (and change Black Vulcan, so he's not a Hanna-Barbera version of Black Lightning--or, ya know, put Static back on their team, like on Young Justice), and they would be a force to be reckoned with, in their own right.

And Freakazoid would be so cool to see in a DCAU format. His powers taken seriously, upgraded so that (along with his Superhuman Strength, Durability, Senses, Reflexes and Electrical Transportation), he could also communicate with technology (Technopathy) and generate, perceive and manipulate electronic signals (Telemetry), and he would be awesome. I mean, really, how often do we get a Technopath on TV and in comics?

I've even considered whether The Tick would be good to have a non-parody superhero show. I mean, not totally serious and dark and gritty and whatnot, but sort of the level of the early Teen Titans episodes. The concept in my mind is pretty cool, actually (and I'm apparently not the only one). Even though, I know most seem to prefer him as a parody.

And, even though Sailor Moon is coming back soon, I have a couple suggestions for her, too. I'd like to have seen her series last as long as, well, not Naruto or One Piece, but certainly longer than it did. It felt very brief, and the plot of each episode always had sort of the same formula, outside of the 'big fight scene' and 'big drama' episodes. I would liked to see a tad bit more filler, but way more complexity (not just in their love lives, but also in the different scenes--make some hard decisions, have some strategy and whatnot). Not to mention, I wish we could have seen them maybe go to different planets, travel in time and whatnot. Everything they did was very localized, especially for them to be a show about the various planets. And, of course, I would like to have seen the Sailor Scouts have powers more closely aligned to the gods after which they were named, or at least more closely aligned to the planets' attributes themselves.

Oh, plus, Marvel should totally give Power Pack a Teen Titans-type show. If anybody deserves to be displayed in that format (that of Teen Titans, not Teen Titans Go!), it's them. It'd be perfect to show on Disney channel, along with other similar young-kid superhero groups.

I'm totally with you in the Power Pack and Superfriends themes.   I've heard of, but never watched, Sailor Moon and Freakazoid, so I don't know what untapped magnificence (or drudgery, if applicable) exists there.

As for the Tick going serious... I'm ambivalent.  I am a HUGE fan of both the animated series and the live version (I'll watch Patrick Warburton in anything he does), and I've always felt that the silliness was the series' strongest asset. Not saying I wouldn't patronize a serious version,  but it would shift me out of my comfort zone.

Well, Sailor Moon isn't exactly the Great American Novel, but I enjoyed it. It may be for nostalgia reasons, but I love it nonetheless. Very fun, for folks who don't take their entertainment too seriously, but really like pretty magical girls in skimpy suits fighting monsters and saving the world and whatnot.

As for Freakazoid, it's a parody, so maybe you'd feel the same way about it, as you feel about The Tick. Though, if you ask me, I think even the parody heroes have earned enough capital to get a shot at serious big-time celebrity. Except the Justice Friends. *ahem* Unless done perfectly (which it sort of was, in its current parody form), that has 'copyright infringement' written all over it.

OMG!!!  I just looked up the Justice Friends and I nearly spat out my tea. I'm still shaking with laughter as I type.  I have GOT to watch summa that.  Aside from the crumbs I can scour on YouTube,  do you know of a good place to sample a stricter diet of just JF?

Well, they're part of Dexter's Laboratory, so that's your best bet.

Like I said, it really is a shame they never got their own show.

Wonder Woman (even though she might not take me, what with her being an Amazon and me being male). The Amazons were among the most deadly combatants in Greek mythology.

And Black Panther, because I'd get to go to Wakanda (in my ancestral home, Africa, of course), not to mention, while Batman is supposed to be very good at training and preparing for things ahead of time, Black Panther is supposed to be good at improvising even without prior knowledge of a coming situation. Not to mention, I'd get my hands on the vibranium shoes and the anti-metal claws.

I'll go with Electra, since steath accompanies any martial training offered at any school she endorses.  Stealth is my wheelhouse for all things mundane and political.

Plus, I'd have to agree with Wulf on T'Challa as my main mentor.  You simply can't have more undiminished resources at your disposal, coupled with the benevolence of a king, looking out for his people

Re: Interesting superpower questions

I would give a leg for superspeed.

With prosthetic technology these days, you could get a reasonable replacement AND gain all the benefits of perceiving our world at a much more favorable rate of speed than any opponent or adversary.  Yes, you would still have to deal with the inconvenience of having an artifical appendage, but the benefits would, IMHO, greatly outweigh the cost.

Goodness...I don't think I could really answer this honestly.

The thought of losing limbs that can't be regained really bothers me for some reason. Maybe vanity...

Still, I don't think I could easily pick a body part I actually need, to just lose, even for the sake of gaining a superpower. Not unless the superpower allowed me to gain it back, or a better version, or some other great benefit.

Like, say, giving my left arm (which is my weaker arm anyhow) for the power of Quantakinesis. Then getting a bionic arm to replace the lost one. And from then on, replicating body parts to be not only an organ donor, but also set aside some spares for myself, in case I lose any more limbs.

Hehe, maybe even trade my left arm to gain the power of Time Travel, and then travel to an alternate timeline, and take the arm of that universe's me, as a replacement. No temporal paradox (since I didn't go back on my own timeline), and I get my arm back.

See? That's kinda how I approach these things. So I don't know if I could just permanently lose something, and just let it be lost. I value each body part too much...lol
