Phi:  No. He wants your friends to see what he's about to do to you, so they'll come down into the creek bed and get trapped like you are. But because he wants them to see him doing it, they can't see him attacking you. So he's using the fact that he wants them to see him attacking you to ensure that they can't see him attacking you, so they won't get in his way. So you're both still there, but they can't see anyone in the trench. You can see him fine.

I specifically stated anyone could come back into the story at any time. Narrate a run though the woods away from a burning house and how you ended up at this creek bed.

I put my faith in you Wulf, because I've not diverted my full attention the past few posts and I'm at a loss. I'm ready to roll now, but there's a bit of a disconnected to overcome.Nobodies fault but my own.
