You know about that document I made, detailing numerous superhuman powers, right? I started making it years before I came across the Superpower List website.

Well, even if you didn't know about the document, here's what I came up with.

Shadowulf1 (Wulf) wrote
Superhuman Strength or Superstrength is the ability to exert force from the muscles beyond that of a normal human. One with this ability accomplishes it by either fortifying the muscles with psychic force (similar to the energy which allows Telekinesis), or simply having denser muscle mass than that of a normal human. The amount of psychic force required (and thus, the amount of strength one can exert) for the former means varies from person to person. The upper levels of this ability are not yet known, but it is possible that, with training, the user could push, pull or lift several tons.
And here, I indicate that psychic Superstrength is not the same as Tactile Telekinesis.

There are MANY means to obtain superhuman strength.

Coming into contact with a substance (water, light, spinach, etc)

Absorbing a substance (sunlight, life-force, etc)

Dense muscles, external fortification as well as manipulation of various forces and energies.

The question is not the MEANS by which to obtain superhuman strength, it's the DEGREE of strength that results. In other words, what is the upper level of Superboy and Luke Cage's strength?

Yeah, so I guess we know who would win. Unless Luke Cage somehow found a way to absorb or otherwise remove the solar energy from Superboy's body, and then prevent him from getting back into the sun...

We assume most superstrength is natural.

And superstrength training is rarely to HAVE superstrength. Most superstrength training is to gain control over superstrength that they already have.

Without any genetics or gimics or magic that strength would be called Peak Human strength.
It's still super strength, just not as super as the higher levels.

I'm guessing Conan is one who has gained that through training.

Here's a list with strength levels and descriptions and some characters who have it.

Bigger version here.

BTW: Anybody know who all those folks are? I can name about 1/3 of them.

Hulk, Thor, Heracles, ???, Iron Man

The Thing, Namor, ???, ???, Vision, Giganta?, ???

Sif, She-Hulk, ???, ???, Silver Surfer, Colossus, Ghost Rider, Spider Man

Tigra? (Something Tiger-Related?), Nighthawk, Wolf-Man?, Spider-Woman, Beast, ???, Justin Arthur?

???, ???, Iron Fist, Black Panther, Captain America, Moon Knight, Dare Devil, ???, Wolverine, Hawk-Eye.

I know a surprising number for someone who's not a comic aficionado.

Thoughts on Vampire Toughness:

Vampires are sometimes portrayed with having enormous toughness: That is, they seem very durable and hard to hurt..

I had an idea.

Vampires aren't tough or durable. What they have is enormous resilience.

That is, they always return to the same shape, provided blood.

So, a vamp isn't any more bullet-proof than a normal person. You can riddle them with holes just as readily as any mundane..  The holes just don't bother them as much, and they seal up real quick-like.

Regeneration. Unchanging Permanence.

Vampires hate change. They're static in nature. That's why they cling to old traditions and habits. Despite their age, they rarely change their views..

It.. bothers them.

They may transform into a bat or mist or a shadow, but that's merely a temporary detour.

Emotions drift away from them and they suffer from an almost constant feeling of dislocation and distance.

Why do they love the Blood?

Because, it lets them, for a single glorious moment, feel alive again. They steal the life from humans to feel more human themselves.

Vampires can survive without it. They'd be reduced to shambling idiot corpses, but they will continue to exist..

But live? Never that.

Well, uh, yeah, those I recognized (with the exception of the wolf-guy, the tiger-lady, Vision and Justin Arthur). I actually was hoping for the remainder...

My favorite modern interpenetration of vamps has always been the movie adaptation of 30 Days of Night. No psychic powers, no air of sensuality, just a predator that's so effective it hasn't changed in centuries. Like sharks that walk like men.

Comics have been around before some us first learned to walk this world.
That picture was probably drawn in the sixties.

The one with the red jacket in the top tier is Wonder Man.
