Setting ideas:

Earth advanced a couple hundred years thanks to supersciance and magic. Most big cities have evolved into megacities with all sorts of technological advances are common. Move away from the big cities and the changes become less pronounced. Standard of living is raised for pretty much everyone.

There is a International Association of Superheroics that are in charge of handling "extra-ordinary threats." They are officially recognized by the U.N. as a NGO. The Association has chapters has chapters everywhere, and officially recognized Heroes have universal passports that allow them to travel anywhere in the world legally, as well as an operations budget they can draw on. The Association is funded by a group of wealthy philanthropists that are, in fact, its founders and some of the oldest superheros as well as profits from several supersciance corporations.

Members of the Association are to supply their secret identity, if they have one, to the Association. They are held to a standard of righteousness to keep their membership: they are not allowed to intervene in wars between countries except to prevent breaches of the Geneva Convention, but can intervene in interplanetary warfare. They are not allowed to break the law, except in the case of grievous human rights violations. They are not allowed to compete in professional sports, nor hold office. In addition, leaving or expulsion from the organization is permanent.

Superheros are allowed to intervene in ordinary crime and make citizens arrests, but are not police officers and do not hold any of the authority of most state police forces. Still, you'd be hard pressed to find cops that would turn away their help. In the case of an Extra-Ordinary threat (Something that the local police is in no position to deal with) Superheros gain authority over the situation and may intervene in the way they see fit.

The Earth has been involved in at least 2 interplanetary wars against invaders. We are now part and under the protection of a sort of Space U.N., though our space fleet isn't large enough that we would be asked to intervene in any other planets problems. Trade is good and the Earths most valuable export is Chocolate.

The creation of Supersoldiers is a war crime.

Supernatural entities are recognized as sentient, as is alien life, and are subject to the same rights and laws as human beings, as are being from other dimensions and time travelers.

Starman, that's what I was taking inspiration from in terms of tone. Everyone should read Starman.

I'll see if I can give it a read.

Ideas for an RP/ Art Practice for me.

I call it Loot. Everyone plays as a sort of generic looking being which I shall render. Each person will have a few identifying features to separate them from one another, some basic clothing and one generic weapon of plain quality.
Something like this...but drawn better obviously.

Once we start characters will be placed in a never ending maze-like dungeon of creatures, monsters, bosses and terrors to fight. Fights will be short as the main focus of the RP will be the increasingly crazy loot you grab from killed enemies (each drawn by me). You'll deck out your character in a plethora of awesome gear and weapons until by the end of the RP, everyone is a titan warrior with dozens of magical bells and whistles and various powers bestowed by their gear. it could be a fun and lighthearted campaign with no real rules and lots of wild events. Plus I get to work on designing things.

I really like the idea of incorporating drawings into the character progression of an RP.
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Yeah, me too. its always been a hope to include more custom art into our RPs and this was a good way too test the idea.

This would work well with a D&D style campaign.

I've been having this desire to play a D&D 3.5 pixie druid lately. The idea of being able to be a flying invisible pixie sized character one moment and wild shape into a colossal sized elder fire elemental with four arms the next round just sounds amazing.

I too have been looking to do some tabletop RPG themed shenanigans but as of yet have found no Pathfinder group here on campus.

As for the RP idea. I'd like to include some small measure of TTRPG rule types but not so many as to make it structured.

There is one group on campus that I can not think the name of currently. The strategy game club or something close to that.

They do all sorts of board games during the meeting time but if people stay till after the meeting I've heard that they set up different tabletop role playing games. So you might want to check them out.

Yes.

Ever notice how we seem to congregate around ideas and talk about how cool they are, then never do anything?

I do notice that. Its a crying shame, but hey. That's just how these things go. I have no delusions that any idea I have will absolutely garner enough  interest to be pulled through all the way. But its nice to at least dream.

Of course if we could all pick a single project or two and band together, bunker down and real build it up that would be nice.

Well, notice how I tend to GM things?

There's a reason.

It's mostly that I start threads, really.

I don't watch Adventure Time, but I do know about upgrades, and they are fun. If this gets up and running (and I don't already have six billion other things to do), count me in.

And if I DO have six billion things to do, then count me in later on. Cause I'll still want to play at some point when other time is freed up.

Marv:  You really should. I think we need to keep all of our ideas on here, even the ones we don't get to right away. Whatever RPs come to mind, can all have some use, even if it's just to inspire other ones.

Zale: I was hoping we could do that with Evolutionist's Stone. I mean, I know y'all may not be invested into like I am (I have a more emotional attachment, I guess), but I think it could really be fun. A vaguely dystopic thing, nothing too grimdark, but intelligent and adventurous. The main characters would be all you guys worry about (and any others you personally choose to add in). Otherwise, I can handle them, and most will either be cameos, canon fodder or one-shots. No long-term narration of huge casts, if I can help it.

Though, if you have an idea for some other plot (new, or existing), then by all means, I'm listening. I just want to get back to one where we don't have to purposely reduce ourselves for lack of true challenge to our mighty divine or reality-bending awesomeness.
