I think this is the most appropriate thread to put this in without making a new thread.

Video Game Name Generator

So for class, we got an opening assignment to write a two page essay describing the game that we get randomly from above. I got: Flying Programming Melee.

Anyone want to see what game they get / have to make?
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. International Lowrider Omega.

After the great demon war 25 years ago, the world is an apocalyptic wasteland filled with death and horrible monsters. The only way to cross this wasteland? Lowriders, vehicles forged from the carcasses of slain demons and fueled by the only power source left: the flames of hell itself. Through this world wanders Enrico Rodriguez and his Lowrider, Beelzeboss, righting wrongs and wooing woman wherever he finds them. But who is this organization that is pursuing him, who call themselves Chopshop and seems to want nothing more than the destruction of his Lowrider?

Imagine Godhand/Devil May Cry with vehicle sections straight out of Redline. Made by Platinum Games.

For mine, I'm thinking of doing an Alien Vs. Humans thing where you try to take over the space around Earth by hacking into either the satellites or UFOs floating over the area. I'm having trouble fitting in the Melee part of it, my current idea involves you playing as the programs you send into the satellite/UFO and fighting to take it over.

You know what works great with this? Game Dev Tycoon.

*Edit*

Damn, I just had another idea for one where you play as video game characters. Not real video game characters, but fake Wreck It Ralf/Kid Radd ones in a whole Videoland sort of situation. Everyone has pieces of code that determine what they can do. Lets say Original NES Mario, for example. He'd have:

*Attack Parameter: Jump
*Health Parameter: Power Up Based, Three Hits Max
*Affected by Power Up
*Mercy Invincibility
*Lives
*Death Parameter: Lose Life, Return To Nearest Checkpoint
*Game Over Parameter: Lose All Lives

An Rp where we collect Video Game Rules in the form of codes that change how we act?

I got a new assignment this week, I have to write about a random franchise and genre being combined. I got Guitar Hero remade as a first person shooter. Not quite sure how I'm going to handle that yet.

I'm also in a different class called Game Lab which is an industry simulator where I build an entire game with a team over a semester. I'm the Game Designer for the team for the this game called Body Shop which was created by my Creative Director. You play on this space ship that has been attacked by a mad scientist. You've been reduced to this bodiless head which has to hop around and combine with the body parts lying around to change into different forms to transverse the ship.

Here is my essay from last assignment sense people seemed interested. I'm not very proud of it at the moment.
Philote wrote
Flying Programming Melee is a multiplayer turn based strategy game where you lead your faction to victory by hacking your way to controlling the satellite space of Earth. The game centers around the players sending signals, which contain living program units for the player to control around the curved three dimensional map surrounding Earth to infect, destroy, and ultimately replace the enemy satellites in Earth’s orbit. The players start the game by choosing a faction, such as the humans, with military satellites or the aliens, with UFOs and begin spreading their control of Earth’s exosphere by taking over both neutral and enemy satellites. Each faction is unique, having their own custom set of hacking signals with which to strategize against the opponent. Each living program unit acts differently, including ones that aid satellites controlled by your faction, ones that cause certain events to happen, and ones that directly attack an enemy satellite. Signals sent out from satellites that the player controls take varying amounts of turns to be played out depending on if the signal has to pass through Earth or space on the spherical map and the potency of the living program unit carried by the signal. Once a signal has arrived at a satellite, it spawns as a controllable unit on the two dimensional computer grid of that satellite where it can fight any defensive signals present and attempt to take the satellite over. Once a satellite is taken over, it is destroyed, along with any units present, and replaced with a satellite of the winning faction that can then begin to receive and send hacking signals. Units may also send themselves as signals to other satellites if the player chooses. The Earth below changes, as the conflict in the exosphere is taking place, to depict the control of regions gained by a faction due to that faction having won control of the satellite space of the area.
FPM’s core game play focuses around creating strategic opportunities for the player to use competitively while experimenting with both a three dimensional map and the timing of hacking signals traveling between satellites. The player is able to target, or be targeted for an attack at all points on the map at any time, by having hacking signals sent to the targeted area. This means that the player must have their satellite prepared by the time enemy signals arrive and that they must manage their signals so that they arrive at the most efficient time.
The game has a non serious tone, as the major themes of each faction are exaggerated to better represent the changes to an area has a faction takes it over. For example, the visuals for the human faction would show high tech military satellites, large human cities growing in controlled territories, and units spawned from hacking signals as digital versions of different ground military units. The non serious tone also allows for humorous factions to also be included that do not logically fit with the space setting, such as a mage faction that uses a floating arcane nexus instead of a satellite.
The scope of FPM’s demo will cover a single match up between two factions controlled by players so that AI opponents will not be necessary. The two factions, Human and Alien, will only feature a handful of units each for the demo that can be built off of for a full game. The goal of the demo is to determine if the map style and signal management is an enjoying experience before additional units and factions are added onto the game.

It just occurred to me that there aren't any superhero RPs here. I don't mean things like EV Stone or even that thing Jester had going, I mean an honest to god "this guy was in a lap accident, this girl has magic powers given to her by a goddess, this dude is an alien, and also there's a gorilla, they form a team and fight the likes of Dr. Diabolicus, Drogo the Star Hunter, The Jackhammer, and the Cruel Clown Coalition."

ESRP is more a constant development bit. They don't go on to be superheroes, but rather heroes who just happen to be super.

Yeah, you're right, though, there's no outright superhero RPs. I'd love to hear your ideas.

(In addition to and aside from Dr. Diabolicus, Drogo the Star Hunter, The Jackhammer, and the Cruel Clown Coalition )

Well, you have things like DC where you have all these diverse elements to it. You have super science, you have myth and magic, you have people popping in from the future and the past and myriads of different races out in space. You have Atlantis as a sovereign nation and people running around, inventing insane lifechaging things in their basement, then deciding to rob banks with them.

But nothing is ever really different that from our world. It's always just "Earth, but...." with no significant change away from the modern world. Take Wonder Woman! She comes from an island of Amazons and a Greek god is one of her rogues gallery. Don't you think that, based on these plane facts, there'd be a resurgence in the ancient religions? If you had undeniable proof that Zeus was a real dude, wouldn't you go through with the old offerings just to be on the safe side?

Then there's science. Barbara Gordon is in a wheelchair, are you seriously telling me that no one can do anything about that? In a world where Reed Richards exists, cancer should not be a thing.

Shouldn't magical wards be standard home security as well?

I'd like to take the world, and have it move along with all this crazy stuff. I want science to be advanced 100 years by all these super science discoveries. I want space elevators, cheap power, and cures for most disease. I want police who are prepared to hold off any superpowered crazy that pops up until the capes get there to handle it proper, and prisons that hold normal supervillains so that heroes don't come off as totally ineffectual (looking at you, Batman.) I want villains with whole arcs dedicated to taking them down, and I want the reader to go "oh crap!" in the event they show up again and not just "oh, this guy again." I want the Earth to have a presence on the galactic stage, not a huge focus, but maybe have a channel on earth dedicated to galactic news and make a note that we're getting some immigrants. I want young woman who go out clubbing to carry a can of garlic spray in their purse just in case a vampire tries to pick them up. I want the guy who says he doesn't believe in magic or psychic powers to be looked at as though he just said gravity didn't exist. I want an exorcist in every hospital, right down the hall from the shrink ray they use to shrink down doctors to send into you body. I want someone to use "it was an evil clone" as an excuse and not have it be instantly dismissed because it's totally a thing that could happen. I want a hidden city of Gorillas to be recognized by the U.N., and for a Gorilla representative of Gorilla city to negotiate with the representative of the Democratic Republic of the Congo so that he'll let Gorilla City's Gorilla military send in a detachment of Gorilla soldiers to intervene in the local civil war on their behalf, and I want it to be played completely straight faced!

I also think heroes should be part of some organized structure, like the Justice League, except you need a license from this organization to go globe hopping, bad guy punching, dedicated super hero. But you can still operate without a license if you just happen to have superpower and want to help your hometown, because that falls under Good Samaritan Law.

I've had a theory about this for awhile but haven't quite found the way to word it correctly.

So we know that both Marvel and DC are connected, due to the whole Brothers things and we know that both of them have multiverses among other things.

On the macro scale, the dimension is fractured in half and within each dimension, Marvel and DC, the universe is fractured even more. The first part of my theory is that even within one specific instance of the multiverse, it is fractured even more, around different people or groups.

This explains how certain events that Vault mentioned do not spread out and severely influence the world because they only build up within the fracture that they are prominent. This also explains how Superman can have a world-endangering event that only he handles, or how Spiderman can fight through New York without attracting another superheros attention because those events are occurring only evolving within their fractures. They are not completely isolated though because you can travel across these fractures just like they can travel across the multiverse, just with more ease because of the scale.

Second part of my theory is that this is somehow related to how they get their powers since even the fracture between Marvel and DC resulted in the dimensions become the Brothers. The fracture for each person is what I'm going to call the Superhero Spark. Everyone possess these in the Marvel/DC universes and when they exist in a fracture around them, they react and accelerate the person into their persona. Random spider bite? Suddenly you're spider man. Willful? Suddenly you're green lantern. Anyone is able to suddenly transform into a hero from any random circumstance because both their spark has been activated and a fracture has formed around them where they are the prominent figure. This is why people still argue Batman vs. Superman, because their sparks are similar in strength.

Exactly, they're all fractured and broken. They don't we've together unless they have to.

I want a world that's moved on, that's taken that colorful insanity and weaved it into the fabric of everyday life. A setting that moves as a coherent whole,

I suggested a superhero RP awhile ago, but it got buried in an avalanche of other posts.

If this happens, I'll dump characters on that shit so fast they'll have to be heat-shielded to survive the friction burn.

We could even have a thing where we trade off primary narration, like comics have multiple writers working on the same book.
