Re: Rapture Virus

Should we add in levels of infection of the virus so as the virus spreads more throughout the body the stronger your rapture becomes. At 100% the individual is considered fully infected and a complete danger to society as their powers are a lot stronger, also the rapture gains a new skill on their raptures. If infections do become part of the story I have a good character for it.

Name: Aleksander Braslik
Rapture: Bad Luck Inducing (not only can he influence events that are already in effect to produce misfortune, he can produce kinetic energy which moves along quantum stochastic fields to INITIATE unfortunate events); can also direct similar effects AROUND himself, so he isn't affected by bad luck effects
Side Effect: Eyes are purple, and he has a fond affinity for the color purple which only developed after his manifestation
Side: Follows Harley Gates and Natalia Vade

Name: Jane Piper
Rapture: Light Jumping, when she jumps she can turn into light and appear in another area that is in a straight line from direction she jumped, 3 second cool down, can activate jump while in midair, She can also empower her kicks with light making them stronger, this doesn't have a cool down.
Side Effect: Emits a light that can travel through objects which makes it where others can see her at all times even if she is behind a wall. (Note does not work on clothes)
Side: ????

PS. The virus and side effect thing is genius
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

John Piper (Jane Piper's little brother)
Rapture: Puppet body, his body is made of a strong wood substance and he can open up his body revealing plenty of traps, spikes, saws, etc.
Side Effect: He has a wooden body and finds it hard to move on his own.

Nicholas Piper(the cousin of the other two)
Rapture: Psychic Strings, he can attach his strings to peoples joints and mess with their movements. This is largely ineffective against most people but his powers are growing. He uses his powers to help with the movement of John Piper and they fight as as team
Side Effect: He has a sort of pink tattoo on his nerves on his skin, starting at his fingertips when he gets the powers then working over his body the more he uses his powers.

------------

Dane Woodland
Rapture/side effect: He can control his density. When he lightens his density his skin bloats out making him look fat and his skin turns snow white, like this he can float up and fly. When he increases his density his skin sucks in and he looks famined and his skin turns black, like this he can tunnel through earth like it was nothing and he is very heavy.

Avni Surresh
Rapture: She has healing powers. She can cause anything that causes damage or pain to heal instead. She herself can not use any harmful force against another person, even in self defense. So she uses her natural persuasion to gain allies to do her work. She manipulates people though gives the appearance of being good.
Side Effect: Her entire body is green and it has random leafs growing out of it.

Name: "Steve" (true name unknown).
Rapture: Age Manipulation. Steve can manipulate the telomere-restoring genes of a human body, thus manipulating age. He can also stop the telomeres from degrading, thus stopping ageing. He has stopped himself from ageing, as he fears death. He says he is ancient, but one cannot be certain of his true age due to his power. He is the founder of an age-old group of raptures called The Eternals.
Limits: He can only de-age someone to their prime, which is around 25.
Side effect: Stopping ageing greatly increases the risk of mutation and cancer, so he has to use his power to kill selected cells. However, his gang have suffered insanity and memory loss due to the repeated complete replacement of body cells.
Physical side effect: He rapidly ages when he uses his rapture, although he can repair the damage.
Unusual features: Some people affected have developed secondary raptures over the years, sometimes more. This is because when a mutation in a cell would normally be destroyed, the effects of his rapture allow it to spread. However, it remains a tumor unless he interrupts and assists the mutation to become a second rapture.
Side: The Eternals, who do not care for the government, as they have seen it before and believe it will pass as other epidemic responses did. His gang all obey him and protect each other; with a healing rapture, they can live through almost anything.
Bow before your unimaginably powerful overlord!

Wait a minute, I'm currently too busy holding a cork in mid air for petty groveling.

Side request

The Vagabonds. A semi-neutral group of raptures. They are predisposed against the government (And raid them on occasion.) They don't feel that they should actually go all out in an attempt to fight them, preferring to not overtly risk their own skins.

Name Sam Semele.

Rapture Electrical Generation. (Can physically generate electricity. CAN'T control electricity.)  Sam's rapture resembles the electrical generating muscles of an electric eel or ray. He has specialized muscle groups along his arms and body that generate electricity both with conscious effort and emotional responses. Note that use of his rapture can require him to consume vast amounts of food.

Side-effect   Muscle ridges along his arms, legs, and body. These whirl and wrap around most of his body.

Side Vagabonds.

=================

Name Emera Parthenope

Rapture Superhuman Speed.  Capable of moving with extreme speed, from merely slightly above human to faster than most race cars. Has mental adaptations that let her mind process information at that speed. However, moving to fast can result in lack of oxygen, meaning she can only keep up her top speed for a few seconds.

Side-effect   Her movements while using her power cause a kind of sonic boom. This increases with the speed at which she moves, meaning that at high speeds, she can deafen people and even knock some objects over.
Also, her body exudes a kind of super-smooth "Armor" once she surpasses a certain speed to protect her from fiction. This resembles thick bony plates of armor.

Side Vagabonds.

===================================

Name Tia Psyche

Rapture Thought-form Materialization. Ability to form mental objects and materialize them as psychic items. Such items are invisible to people not psychically sensitive but can still affect them mentally. All of these thought-forms never affect anything physically, but can affect people and animals mentally.  A mental sword would cause pain and mental trauma, a mental flower might make a psychic scent that causes extreme nostalgia, and a wall would block psychics and hold back thoughts.

Side-effect   Whenever her power is active, it lets off the psychic equivalent of a police siren. Any psychics, clairvoyants, telepaths or empaths within half a mile will be alerted to a big booming something being out there.

Side Vagabonds.
“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

No, i said it doesnt work on clothes so that wouldnt happen, she cant control it, You would see her body/clothes/whatever she is carrying even if she is behind several layers of walls.

Good to know. (Wonder if Ninchila will let us narrate this story like the Evolutionist's Stone RP...)

Name: Justin Clarke

Rapture: Able to amplify a persons rapture infection to 100% for a short amount of time (10 mins maximum). This gives a rapture a new skill and are a lot stronger.

Side Effect: His body is constantly surrounded by a green electric discharge ( this is the energy used to amp a rapture infection)

Side: Neutral

Name: Dath Faison
Rapture: Voice of Destruction (opening his mouth initiates the production of entropic kinetic energy, causing matter to be damaged simply by him opening his mouth)
Side Effect: Eyes glow when his power is in use, and his voice is incredibly harsh, for those strong enough to avoid being in direct proximity of it (anything directly in line-of-sight will take the worst effects, while others will find his voice jarring); due to this, he never speaks, instead communicating by either writing things down on his pad or using sign language
Side: Follows no one; feels alienated from socialization for the most part...

Re: Rapture Virus

Ninchila_540
Maybe Dath and Blake could work together as their powers make them similar?? When blake opens his mouth it opens a black hole and sucks anything in as one of the side effects his body has adapted to him not being able to communicate and allows him to speak telepathically but it's only one way ( he can only project his thoughts not read peoples minds)

Only if Blake doesn't mind learning sign language (or covering his ears when Dath uses his powers). As WHD suggested, sign language would probably be best for him to communicate through. Communicating telepathically would be great if it were two-way, but since it's not, Dath would still have to respond for Blake to know what he had to say...
