Name: Noah Fectora
Rapture: Kinetic Distribution--Absorbs kinetic energy from impacts and distributes it through the rest of his body---in other words his body behaves like a non-newtonian fluid when hit--in practice he is bulletproof and can absorb punches, he can even balance a building if it falls on him by redirecting the kinetic force to the ground but he will be unable to move. He is weak to knives and other cutting tools without blunt trauma. Side Effect: When he touches anything the point of impact in his body turns black, extreme heat turns his body bright red Side: Hired Mercenary--works for the highest bidder No effect get it....... |

Name: James Tailor
Rapture: James can read the minds of others. However, it is limited to the communication part of the mind, so it is essentially "Language Mimicry". With his ability, he remembers all the language knowledge he has absorbed. Limitation: The person must know something of a language he knows too. Essentially, he grabs a mental dictionary from everyone's head. If one person knows only Mandarin but he doesn't know any, he will not pick anything up. Also, he isn't much better at picking foreign languages up the normal way than a normal human -he simply remembers it perfectly. Side effect: Black eyes, but he covers them up with contacts when he is not around Samuel. Side: He works for Josh and Samuel, but since his power is useless in a fight, he is a scientist and the head translator. In fact, he was an "experiment" to create the ultimate rapture, but it obviously failed spectacularly.

I was thinking about it; but that might take a while...she'd have to get access to them first, and such, so I wouldn't just ruin the storyline by giving her so much power right off the bat...

Well, everyone needs limitations, or the story gets boring.

Could someone please tell where the term "Mary Sue/Gary Sue" came from? I know it means an overpowered character.

I wouldn't know, but I have made an RP out of the "How would you react" thread. Currently, only WHD and I have posted. There are only three posts (I've posted twice), but we have already started the alliance and are searching for alliance members in the "Substitute Battle Arena" thread, although we're going to try to find you first.

Mary Sue...hm no idea.
I just know that it reminds me on a "Polly Perfect" type person. That may be the origin. Mary Sue is thought of as a name representing like the 1950's, Good-ole "White people are the only superheroes, and they always save the day against scary blacks, Hispanics, Jews, etc." ideal. Sweet, wonderful, talented at everything, always makes the right decisions, always beloved, etc. etc.

Thanks, I have a feeling I went on that page a while ago, but didn't remember anything. I don't know, it just seems familiar.

Thomson Ether:
Rapture: Can touch a rapture, analyzing their powers. He can then grant analyzed powers to objects. In addition, he can program the rapture and combine them in an object. Example: His trademark weapon is a sword which emits fire whenever used to attack something. Side Effect: When he "scans" raptures, it creates a disease which would kill him in a month. The only known way to reverse the condition is if Samuel Fletcher uses his power on him. Even so, it will only "clean" him, after which it will develop if he uses his rapture. Nobody, including him, knows that his Unusual features: His disease is infective, while his Rapture virus is not. He is only noninfectious if he is afflicted with his disease. Side: He fights with the Fletcher's, as he needs Samuel to keep him alive if he uses his rapture. He was the one who infected Samuel Fletcher, who infected the rest of his family. Luckily, in the process, he also created the cure to his affliction.

Tvtropes is so much more entertaining than wikipedia. :D
“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

Name: Johnathan Basil
Rapture: Agitator Pulse--sends an electric pulse that greatly increases stress and induces aggression to the point of death and also has the side effect of making those affected highly efficient killers Examples: After following a small group he unleashes the pull into the water supply, then when an argument happens all of the people affected will effectively try to kill each other---of course Johnny will have to escape and be out of sight before then. He can also use this in a big crowd and create angry mobs by having the pulse be conducted through the mud puddles or in the rain---but he has to run really really fast so that no one takes out their anger on him. Side Effect: White left eye that rotates weirdly and is creepy looking and distracting Side: None----any side can recruit him |

Name: Noah Fletcher
Rapture: Each cell is independent, enabling his to re-attach and control dismembered limbs. He can control all bodily processes. However, he cannot regenerate through normal means nor can his body change, although this prevents ageing. Side effect: Cannot regenerate, but he does build up stem cells to heal himself, although the immune system destroys them. If his immune system is suppressed or he is affected by Samuel's power, he can heal massive wounds instantly. Role in story: Was infected in the present, but was sent back to the ice age (and infected) by Mary Tailor. He started many epidemics of the Rapture virus. He met his descendants Samuel and Josh Fletcher to explain the epidemic. He is believed to be the source of the virus, making it a possible predestination paradox. Time in past: Helped ancient man develop, was frozen in ice multiple times. Eventually, he reached ancient Egypt, where a rapture was posing as a god. This rapture took him to early Australia, where he wandered until the natives arrived, joining their tribe. He lost his rapture for a time due to an unknown reason, so he fathered his the Fletcher's ancestors. Native to: Roman-occupied Europe, where he was attacked by Mary and send through time. Side: He is on his descendant's side, as he has seen history repeat itself. He has a fear of time travel, as one would expect. Unusual features: Many he infected have a space-time related ability, none of them ageing. This immortality is believed to be due to the fact that he is his own ancestor. Name: Mary Tailor Rapture: Can touch people and send them to a random point in time and space. Side effect: She ages rapidly, although she reverts back to the physical age of 16, the age she was infected. Effect on victim: If human, the victim is infected with the rapture virus. If a rapture, they lose their rapture and side effect, but are left with the virus, which eventually restores their mutation. Native to: Roman-occupied Europe. Her rapture's anti-ageing effects have allowed her to live as a teenager until the present day. Side: Independent; she sends raptures to other times and places to escape their normal fate. Name: Robert Niles Rapture: Can create wormholes to travel to any time, any place. Side effect: He has the head of a bird, so he posed as a god in ancient Egypt. Native to: Early Australia. Infected by: Noah Fletcher, who he took to early Australia, his old home.
