Re: Offical RP thread.

Sinrus
Alright, so, this tournament. To be quite frank, I don't like it. For starter's it screws up my plans for the Indianapolis storyline, which is annoying but can be pushed aside. The thing is, it doesn't make any goddamned sense.

Imagine you're in the Mover's position. Your city is tearing itself to shambles in a bloodbath riot. Who on earth would, in that position, think "I'm going to hold a tournament to get people to try and kill me and take my position!" He, by all means, ought to be far too busy trying to put down the chaos in his territory to put on something like this.

But sure, okay, it was Gorgon's idea. Still doesn't make sense. If he wants to take power, this is a terrible way of doing it. He's essentially giving everybody else in the city a chance to do exactly what he wants to do first. If anything, Gorgon should be aiming for a simple assassination attempt, or, at least, trying to get the current rebellion to overthrow the Mover for him, so that he can just step in. With this tournament, he's moving himself from a position as one of the people closest to power in Indianapolis to a place where he's got just as much chance of becoming Overlord as literally anybody else.

My suggestion? Retcon the entire thing. It's a totally stupid and illogical move for everybody involved. If we have some taboo against retconning that I am unaware of, then let me handle Indianapolis for a little while. I can get around this tournament in a way that'll put us back on track. Just my two cents.

Eh...maybe rephrase that so Wish doesn't take the offense, but otherwise I agree. I wasn't planning on actually taking part in it myself, but even if I did, I have no clue how it would turn out. I'll just delete it when Wish gets wind of our opinion on it.

Besides, I think it would be much more exciting with the thing *I* had in mind.

MY idea:

Eddie Bryant, experimenting on Project Virago and Project Maiden: The two get wind of the reason behind their experimenting, just as Dianno is heading to their town to help depose the Mover.

They bust out of captivity, and encounter the hulking strongman/woman. Mass chaos, ample carnage, yatta yatta, the three have a three-way free-for-all and plenty of destruction and discord in the process.

Whaddya think?

That would be very exciting to read, as well as excellently compliment the chaotic backdrop of my planned storyline.

Cool. So meanwhile, I'll work on getting this whole riot-battle over so we can move on to the actual plot.

It makes sense to me.

1. It gets rid of chaos---now people get to kill each other in a civilized manner--ie no random attacking and organized fights

2. Assassination attempt----yeah er no....for starters the city will be divided that way ie if the mover is dead then the city is divided into several smaller groups or factions-----this is not what the Gorgon wants---he wants the big territory

3. It shows who is in charge---yep you beat everyone else you're the king---the mover's power is telekinesis unlike the manipulative people he has to SHOW FORCE to get people to obey him---this would be a reminder to people that he is in charge

4. It eliminates all the other people that want to be the overlord---it's so you can take out all the opposition in one go.

5. Gorgon if you haven't noticed has a completely gamebreaking ability(most of the time) and he likes his chances of winning

Re: Offical RP thread.

Sinrus
1. You think? A populace in the midst of riot isn't the most stable of things. Even from their perspective, it would make far more sense to just crush the Mover now rather than partake in his tournament. If they do that, they lose the massive advantage in numbers that they have. And besides, who's to say that somebody even worse won't take over? Deathmatches are not famous for their ability to decide good rulers.

2. What? No. If killing the Mover now would break the city into factions, then killing him in the tournament would be no better. You think a city in the midst of riot is going to care if the Overlord was killed by assassination or in a planned fight? Either way, their oppressor is dead and they have an opportunity to take advantage of the new ruler.

3. Or, he could just kill Gorgon now and save himself the trouble of fighting in the tournament. It would accomplish the same thing.

4. In one go? No, taking them out in one go would be getting them all in one room and then gassing them. This tournament would get rid of them all one at a time in many, many goes, over the course of likely dozens of fights, any one of which could end in the Mover's death. Participating in the tournament would be putting his neck on the chopping block for no reason.

5. Amy Rhinehart. She kills people with a thought. She wouldn't want to be Overlord, but she would fight on the Mover's behalf if her asked her to, and Gorgon wouldn't stand a chance.

Look, the bottom line is, there's a reason that Mubarak didn't declare an Egypt-wide death-tournament during the revolution a few weeks ago. People don't do it because it doesn't make sense.

Re: Offical RP thread.

Wish
Doesn't make sense is relative, in the fictional world it makes perfect sense.

1. Numbers....numbers only matter if they are all fighting for the same thing. Face it they all want to kill each other so that they will be overlord. Deathmatches can't decide good rulers. So what, do you propose that they have an election?

2. No new ruler will exist because the city will be divided---killing the Mover will not solve the fighting---I want to emphasize this point. Look at Iraq, Suddam is gone did that solve everything---no.

3. Its not that simple---there's a reason why he keeps Gorgon alive even if he knows he is a backstabber

4. Nope its not that either---he gets to be the final boss and sits and relaxes until the winner gets to challenge him.

5. Really In my opinion Gorgon can win against her.

The reason why Mumbarak didn't do it because our world is different than a world with superpowers.

This is a fictional RP is it not? Then we should use logic that makes sense in fiction.

Re: Offical RP thread.

Wish... the logic doesn't make sense even in fiction. The bottom line is, even if the Mover won this tournament, do you think that people would just stop rioting? They wouldn't. It would change nothing, and so they would have no reason to change their plans for revolution.

This post was updated on .
Maybe people will not stop rioting however it is still true that there will be less rioters and people will not attempt to kill each other ie united against a common foe.

So far, we have been arguing about the logic of the tournaments. However, I still have no idea what you are thinking right now perhaps you can give your own solution to this power struggle.

I don't know maybe you have a better idea.

I'm sorry if this will involve spoilers but please enlighten me on how you will solve this dispute.

Meanwhile I will work on the Boston story instead. I'll be checking in later to see how you do.

Re: Offical RP thread.

Sinrus
Alright, I ran this idea past Shadowulf a couple weeks ago. Here's copied directly out of the email I sent him.

When Jack, Wayne, Flores, and Damien arrive in Indianapolis, they find the city in
the midst of a riot. The Mover's charismatic ability to keep the population
passive seems to have been shaking as of late, and he's resorting to methods of
suppression that are uncharacteristically contrasted with his usual, more subtle
modus operandi.

The team quickly falls in with the local resistance movement; I'm planning to
use Grant Damon (the vocakinetic I made couple days ago) and make a new
character as the leader (his name will be Zoltan, so you'll know him when you
see him), as well as trawl through the characters thread and look for any
unused, grittier people to flesh it out.

But even as they begin to plan a way to overthrow The Mover, it becomes
increasingly apparent that the Overlord is the least of their problems. His
reign is only the tip of a murderous iceberg, for the streets at night are
stalked by a deranged, self-made Frankenstein and, worst of all, some mysterious
force wants to harness the power of Amy Rhinehart and fill the streets of
Chicago with corpses.

I came to them in a flock of ravens that filled the northern sky at dawn...

While this is true, Sinrus, be aware that some things are subject to change. Notifications are often given, but the ENTIRE plot you devised is up for debate, just like anyone else's. Remember, I said these things were a collaborative effort, and so compromises must be made. So we can discuss the rest of the story's progression before we get along too much further.

The inclusion of the monster villain Horror, in particular.

And, @Wish: we can also discuss what parts of YOUR plot line are still viable, and which parts should be tossed out.

However, @Sinrus: please try not to be so blunt with your criticisms. To the untrained eye, it can come off insensitive or even mean.

Hope you guys get my point...

That last post on the RP was good, when will the next one be? By the way can virago manipulate telekinetic energy due to the forcefield and tentacles? I couldent find a profile for her. and does Maiden use psionic energy to affect reality?

Very good questions, and I'm glad somebody was interested enough to ask.

Virago is telekinetic, like the Mover and Phil from Santa Fe. She can produce psychic force, and crude psychic energy manifestations (i.e. the tentacles and forcefields) using on the power of her mind.

The given name on her profile is Project V.I.R.A.G.O (http://superpower-list-forum.2863604.n2.nabble.com/Characters-td5120617i460.html#a5758669)

As for Maiden, she possesses a unique type of reality bending in which she can perceive the "codes" composing vital reality, and alter these codes in order to bend reality within a 15-foot radius of herself. The only thing she can't alter with this power is the psionic energy that facilitates Telekinesis, meaning that a telekinetic (on Virago's level) has the power to take her down, granted Maiden doesn't take Virago down first.

Maiden's profile name is Project M.A.I.D.E.N (http://superpower-list-forum.2863604.n2.nabble.com/Characters-td5120617i500.html#a5951938)

As for the next post, expect it soon. Some time during the weekend, or early within the ensuing spring break (which is this week coming up). I'd say sooner, but I have another story which I'm pressing myself to finish. The deadline for THAT story kinda makes it hard for me to focus on too many other things (make sure to keep an eye out, I think you'd like it). But, no fear, the thread shall go on.

Quite a bit of stuff. Currently we are working on the demise of the Superhuman Overlord, the Mover.
