Well..

Let's say that there's an overlord/lady from somewhere across the ocean. Their agents and spies tell them of the unrest and rebellion that grips what was north america. To them, it's obvious that unless this is stopped, it may spread into their lands. Because of this, they send a minion of theirs to "Save" the Mover- so they can pump him for information about our little group. And to fake his death.

The Astral Realm, obviously, is the realm from which all psychic energy originates, and the realm in which all psychic energy is contained; it is home to all spirits who have yet to make it to the afterlife, and travel through it is governed by thought and emotion alone (which is why it's so easier to find people with emotional significance to you, than to summon evil spirits/demons, etc.); the Astral Plane is very colorful, though most of it is purples, reds, blues, and pinks, and its temperature and color changes depends on what kind of spirit resides in the area you approach/encounter (these colors visible in the Material Realm denote a person's aura)

It's in line with most of my thoughts for it.

It's also fairly important, because the guy who "Saves" Mover moves through the astral plane.

Okay. Like teleports (Astraportation) similar to Nightcrawler moving through the Darkforce dimension? Or Astral Projection?

Mixture of both..

The person who's doing this has some kind of Astral Sympathy power. As long as his mind/spirit is in there, he has plenty of control over those sort of things. Outside of it he is rather weak though..
