I don't mind the dsytopian books. They're different.

I have read at least some of those books Jester. They didn't really bother me.

Though Lord Of The Flies struck me as a bit overboard. Also it does not have any of the deep meanings people pretend it does.

Lord of the Flies is not worth it.

It's a "Classic".

One of those books people like to load with meanings and interpretations that aren't really there.

I can give you a general plot run down, If you like.

Normally they wouldn't bother me either, but it's the fact that their is basically no break period between reading them...let's see...Animal farm, of Mice and men, The king of Torts, The book thief, 1984, Some southern book who's name I'm blocking from memory, the Crucible, thank god for Huckleberry fin, The secret life of Bees, Black like me, etc............Anyone ever read the Invasion of the Lawn Weenies series?

Dystopian books don't bother me at all.

But, Lord of the Flies? It is a very profound book. I liked it a lot on my second time reading it, but when I analyzed it deeper, it's got some deep elements.

......I get that there are some deep elements but it's a book about a bunch of children getting abandoned on an island go insane and start killing each other.

In my opinion if you have to swim through forty feet of steaming manure razor blades and acid to get to a gold coin the experience really wasn't worth it.

It IS good!

You can't make up potential meanings if they are based on present elements of the book. I read Golding's reasoning behind writing it, and it seems pretty deep.

Well, if you're a snarky cynic, then OF COURSE a classic doesn't seem worth anything. NOTHING seems good if you're cynical about it.

But that's an asinine perspective of things.

Really?

The idea that without control people will dissolve into a chaotic anarchy?
