This reminds me of Gilgamesh:
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. |

My brain says digimon for some reason.
“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

I've begun some work on my part of the Wiki. We need to decide how we want to word our categories for the pages so that the whole wiki is formatted similarly.
Such as putting all heroes under the Hero category, because if someone calls the category Heroes instead of Hero they wouldn't show up together.

Yeah, Hero is probably better.

Dr. Harkan has some ties to mage understudies. They helped him come up with a machine similar to an x-ray.
Only better. Has color, and can even diminish magnification to cellular level. Now all what's needed is labeling all them thar body parts.

Writing Pad... Magic Microscope...
Anachronistic and highly magical, respectively. Making a microscope of that level implies an awareness of cells and cellular activity. This puts the Centaurs near modern medical knowledge in regards to the body.

GV has a character with a writing pad.
And the capacity to magnify sight to microscopic levels does not imply one already has knowledge of cells. It was invented as an exploratory tool, and would result in knowledge of cells and such. That's like saying DaVinci made models for flying machines because he knew the mechanics for making something fly. It is built to explore a theory, rather than built as a result of what one already knows. If it's highly magical, that's one thing, but their knowledge is only what their exploration and magic have afforded them.

Then what do they use it for?

The Veteran is a god. He's allowed to be anachronistic. And if the Durhians have a newspaper, that implies they have a steady way of producing paper.
Hey son, wanna' learn how ta' make witch balls?

He's a god.
He's not a centaur that has a magi-tech microscope. It's not so much that that bothers me, but that it sets a bad example that it's fine to make up modern devices as magi-tech. I don't want magical tanks rolling around yet. It also bothers me that Wulf didn't bother to ask before flaunting the current technology levels with such speed. I mean, at least give me something that says you're working up towards that- or make it obvious it's a highly magical society. I thought his people were just discovering magic about a week ago in story.

Medicine and science, of course.
What else? To analyze what makes up different materials, so they can no how better to cast medical spells and such. Knowledge makes one's magic much more effective. For the medical profession, and in battle. For that reason, mostly those folks ever even learn how to read or write. Aside from them, their family members, but not just common folks. They're loosely based on the Ancient Greek Centaurs, with the medics and warriors kind of having ideals close to Chiron. Except not nearly as wise. And not divine. And the rest of them enjoy a good party, but aren't nearly as rowdy as Ancient Greek Centaurs. Though the rich aristocrats are rather hedonist.

I can retcon it, if you want.
I have no magical tanks (with no intention to have any for a LONG TIME), and the societies don't HAVE to be highly magical. Likewise, I had only just started thinking about what the Elves and Centaurs' societies would be like AT ALL, spur of the moment, with no mental downtime to post my ideas for approval or disapproval. Also, I did mention earlier that Uburra-Namall sent the Centaurs and the Elves out into society with that preternatural society-building speed-blessing thing and such. It gave them time to build up the basics in their culture. That can also be retconned to not include so much magic, if you want.

I thought you had a news reporter type character with one. Or is that the same guy I'm talking about?
And if not, I can still change it to a scroll or whatever. Sheesh, you guys are making this out to be much more of a problem than it really is. If it's a problem, you coulda just said so; I'm fine with changing it.

I don't mind them being good at medicine, so long as you don't leap ahead to cellular microscopes. It makes me nervous.
Using a magic device that determines what sort of sickness a person is suffering from, or what degree of internal injury would be fine... Or make them skilled with alchemical cures.

I'm also a tad bit neurotic from the Calculus Test I took today.
Yay Anti-Derivatives.
