Well, you know I don't just go for the usual.

You still never gave me any suggestions for nightmare fuel creatures.

I don't really have nightmares often.
You could have some bizarre non-elucidian serpent creature that feeds on fear. It wanders in shadows, never letting itself be fully seen- so as to enhance the eery horror it causes.

Hmmm.. You can't really get much more scary than four foot tall carnivorous demons of inside out skin hunting you in a dark catacomb like maze can you.....I'll come up with something soon.

Inside-Out-Skin sounds like a bad idea. They'd be easy to hurt..

It looks inside out from the human viewpoint. The little buggers are actually pretty durable. I think that the part that looks like open wound either sensed vibrations, or secreted neuro toxin.

Unless they're incorporeal. Or invulnerable.
Though, technically, an equally frightening idea would be demons with the faces of normal people. Huge, hulking creatures, winged or not, of various shapes and sizes, except with no faces. They steal the faces of others by literally ripping them off subjects (including the dead). And in doing so, they can see, smell and taste, as well as experiencing the knowledge and memories of whoever's faces they steal. Whaddya think?

That would be interesting if they had human minds.
Looks like a horrible, gigantic, flesh rending combination of a puma and a crow, with eighteen human-looking arms to walk on with the face of an elderly woman.. Personality of someone's cookie-baking grandmother. Chimera.. Fragments of a person's soul that fled from the horrors of the Gremlins(?). They managed to make new bodies for themselves, twisted as they are by the chaos of the plane, but retain their old faces and much of their personality. Some of them have gone insane, but others are just as they were before. Many of them want to return to the normal world, but they would not survive in harsh physical laws that govern it.

And if it's a dream, I can smash them.
I tend to respond to nightmares with physical violence. Or by just flying away.

I once had a nasty reoccurring dream about being trapped in a factory and stalked by a big, brutal monster I came to call the Skintaker. He had a muscular, pink, veiney body and no eyes. His only facial feature was his huge mouthful of teeth. Not sharp teeth either, grinding molars every last one. He wore a butchers apron, and had two long chains wrapped round his arms attached to hooks that he could use to get you from a distance.
When he got you, he didn't kill you. He took you to a huge hellish machine in the middle of the factory, and strapped you into it. It was some sort of skin harvesting machine. Have you ever seen the Silent hill movie, where Pyramid Head took a handful of that girls skin and just tore it all off? The Machine worked like that. Then the Skintaker threw the body into the incinerator and ate the skin. Also, I remember the factory itself being alive and against you. It would reshape itself, it would show you things, pipes would burst for no reason. Also, carved on the walls were the faces and last words of all the victims. I'm honestly sure that that place was aqtually more evil than the monster itself.
Hey son, wanna' learn how ta' make witch balls?

I never really have nightmares like that.. My subconscious is to much of a wimp to make anything like that. It prefers to just chatter with my muse during dreams.. The worst I get is utterly bizarre dreams, which usually fade from memory. Of course, it gets back at me by making me unable to fly in dreams unless I flap my arms. Which is so undignified. That and it always changes the dream just as it starts to get interesting.

....I tried to submit a power like that and it was rejected five times....It's the giant tentacle monster living in the huaunted mansion on one of the earlier chapters of my book....except this one actually stole the souls and took their forms through the use of masks crafted from their devoured bodies.

I keep trying to fly in my dreasm when I notice, but most of the time I just can't...unless I flap my arms oddly enough.

Yeah.. That's why I usually try to jump onto a building or something.
For whatever reason, I can always jump rather high in my dreams. And move rather quickly.

Cool, let's make a compendium of dream monsters then.
The Gremlins: Demonic imp like creatures that hunt inside of a dense ant hill composed from a living forest canopy. The tube masks: Honestly I didn't spend much time on these, in a rare moment of lucidity I managed to freeze the dream time and destroy them with a large fireball that took out the area. about nine feet tall five feet wide arms reaching down to the knees, and composed of darkness with breathing masks covering the face. Mosquito riders: shadow beings that ride the giant mosquitos of the dream realm. the mosquitos are about the size of elephants and swoop down from the sky picking people. Travel in clouds of several hundreds. the face stealer: From BSOM, acronym for book title. A being that kills it's victoms and imprisons them in a mask constructed from their bodies. Whenever one wears it's mask they turn into a carbon copy of the victim, and have access to their memory and mannerisms...It's true form is a writhing tentacled cancourous bulging mound of fanged flesh. It just wants a hug. The raptors: recurring dreams every now and then. Basically undead velociraptors with armored skin, metal claws, that sometimes breath fire. The lost: Similiar to the chimera's mentioned by zale, basically mutants that reside in an underground mall structure with floors composed of a foot of blood...that apparently does not sell bullets ANYWHERE!!!!!!!!! The tree: a sentient root like creature which inhabits the maze/mall. It's pollen alters physics and takes over the minds of those within it...when I met it water was filling half of the classrooom it was in...from the cealing...I mean it the floor and three feet up from the floor was dry air. The ceialing and about six feet down from it was a pool of water....I accidentally tought it how to construct viruses so look out for that. Demos: Their immortal, their demonic, they look like semi rotting human coprses, they appear in thousands at a time, and they mock you before killing you. |

Ah.
Looks like you're going to have a nightmarish hell-plane by the time this is over.

Mik Hael will fix it by the time it's over.
But I can't really do anything until after a certain point...well I'm doing it right now, but I can't say I'm doing it...by now I actually should have made the first three. |
