At any rate, we need to get these rules laid out and done as soon as possible. The longer we wait, the less inspired we'll be to make the second age as awesome as it can be.

Well, no one else wants to do anything. :/
Let's look at Phi's rules again then. I haven't seen those in a bit.
“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

I can try my best to supply ideas, but as I've proven before....mechanics are not my area of expertise. What precisely do we need to change? What parts are we keeping? In what way do you want the rules altered?

This is the original version I made. It needs upgrades but I don't know how to make it satisfy how you want the rules Zale.
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. |

Alright. Now let's tweak further.

14. Base stats 1, skills 2.
So, is we're playing with just the three tiers how about 14, 10, and 8?

Because you were going to cut it to three anyway.
Might as well have Strong>Moderate>Weak.. Domain Manipulation would be things that make sense. A Sea God making a wave or a bubble in water would make sense. A Fire God should be able to pop off a roaring bonfire without that much effort. Bigger things <cost.

@Vault: I'd like to suggest again that the points for stats be separate from whatever we decided on how to decide skills
@Zale: How would the independent spirits fit into this?

They would be one of those classes.

So they could be any of the tiers?

Potentially.

One correction before I start explanations: the Gargoyles are a Mythos, not a race.
Ok, so the gargoyles are fully immobile when in their stone form and they can't see or hear, but they usually know when to transform back by way of instincts and often they will use the stone form to hibernate around a treasure vault or the like. Their instincts can be tricked but you need to either have very powerful magic or be a deity. As well, the reason the Gargoyles can think in the first place is magic and that doesn't change when they turn to stone. @Zale: Of course the Zanpakutou-like weapons would be weaker. Are they allowed or not?

They were listed under races on the wiki. If they're a mythos, could they be tamed in any way? Say to be used as a grunt.

They are? I'll have to fix that.
They could be tamed if you wish, but they're primarily meant to be guards of vaults, buildings, entrances to dungeons, etc.

I plan to go into it in more detail in the second age, but it basically works like this.
Everything that has ever been created has a spark of the divine in it, living and non-living things alike. Now, because she was so recently created, because the energy of creation was still fresh in her body, and because she was trying to copy what it is that Kagehana was doing by throwing actually things and not understanding that magic was even a thing, she managed to find a way to touch her divine spark to the spark in another object. This contact causes the spark in the object to go critical, destroy the shell binding it, and cause an effect. The effect varies from person to person and object to object but it boils down to this: whatever the pitcher thinks would make the most sense happens. Water could summon up a tile wave, mist forward in a light spray, cause plants to grow, or heal wounds, all depending on what makes sense to that person. Now, the important thing about this is that the first time you see the effect of a pitch, it is locked because you are expecting that to happen every time from now on. So, if you pitch coal and get a fireball it will always be a fireball. If you see someone else pitch coal and get a fireball, and later pitch coal for the first time yourself, yours will also be a fireball because you've seen it happen before. It's really all in the mind. The interesting thing is that it can hardly be called magic. It doesn't use mana. Baring the initial training to touch your spark to an object, it takes no further study to master. It's really more similar to what the gods than it is to any system of magic, though on a vastly smaller scale.

Thanks, this is actually pretty helpful.
On a completely unrelated topic. Anyone got any races I could borrow for a character. I need 2 or 3 from different lands for something.
