What sort of unintended consequences?

The Zanpakuto-like weapons would be the unintended consequence for future generations in the bloodline of the mirror's users. The reason being that the weapons 'reflect' their wielder's soul and power(s).

@Jester: Gilgamesh is dead. I plan on working the pantheon back in somehow, but Gilgamesh specifically isn't coming back.

What are you wanting to do with this RP? What sort of situation coming into the Second Age do you think would be the best for your Spirits? Most believable for your Spirits?

@Dryad: Well, we are planning on getting rid of as many Artifacts and Divine Artifacts as possible. That being said, we can still work in plot points somehow. Zale mentioned something about Artifacts being lost and returning as the possessions of mortals occasionally.

I know, but this is not actually a use of the Artifact, more of a they used it, but there was a 'mistake' when the Artifact was created that resulted in this. It would give another 'ability' to your races too through the humans so there ya go, though it benefits Mina's races most.

Through Nayotake no Hime, she's human and took the trial of the Mirror of Potential, so through her bloodline, humans would gain the unintended consequence. Though the consequence right now is positive, can't say for future uses... heheheheheh...

Consider this: A descendant of Hime decides to visit the land of Eternus and has some uninhibited 'fun' whhile there resulting in a pregnant girl in Eternus with his child.

Posible or not? Next consider how often that happens in certain mythologies.

More seriously though, having a faction of these wouldn't be bad but I don't want every human suddenly on this system, I want to keep them more on my own power system

I'll be honest, I'm struggling with the thought of an artifact's power being transferred genetically. It doesn't seem like it should work that way.

Yeah, I know. If Zale allows these, I'll need to think of a name for them and it's more of something as a plot point of: "Hey, the children of the heroes are able to create weapons that reflect their souls! Let's create a house of heroes!" Cue the creation of families like the Kuchiki or the Hyuga or the Uchiha.

The power of the Mirror of Potential isn't being transferred genetically, the unintended consequence is. The Mirror of Potential unlocks the hidden or potential power of those that pass its trial.

Right, it's effect is the whole unlocked potential thing. I just don't see how that's passed down genetically. It sounds like you're passing a magical boon through sex. That doesn't quite sound right to me

That isn't being passed down through sex though. It's the unintended consequence is like a mutation that occurs due to use of the Mirror but is totally separate from the Mirror's power. Do I really need to spell the separate part out for you? I thought it would have been easy to notice!

I fail to see how the are separate. You're saying it's caused by the Mirror, but has nothing to do with it? I don't understand that at all. From what you initially described, it sounded to me like you wanted the decedents to be affected by the Mirror even though they had not been exposed by it. You wanted some to be able to have the same manifesting power someone who had been exposed would gain, simply because they were genetically related to an exposed individual.

That sounds like the Mirror's power being passed down genetically to me. Obviously this isn't the case as you have stated, but I'm not getting what you're trying to convey.
