Then it's good to make that one ability count.

Correct, make it as unique as possible so that mortals can remember and associate it with the god(dess) easily, not just a generic nothing ability.

Yes, making the one ability count is important but was not what I was questioning.
It seems optimal to have a singular (6) ability at the moment and to dump the rest into stats. Since you can only use one ability at a time then extra abilities are wasted in most cases and the ability needs to be a max level to trump others and to get the fullness of the ability that you want.
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. |

That is one way to look at it. For me, I gave two abilities to Mina and Illusia. One for combat, one not for combat. Since any given ability is more useful in certain situations than others, I have that versatility to switch between the two when needed and can use them for the situations when needed. See how having more than one ability can be good?

I guess I rank survivability in combat pretty high as most cases out of combat do not really need excessive force.

I suppose you could look at it that way. I, on the other hand, prefer to make as many multifaceted capabilities as possible. Never know. What if you come across a situation where you need to use a power, but the one you chose is not useful, regardless of the power level behind it? Having numerous abilities reduces that possibility.

Have you created your skills yet?
In most cases I believe a skill, especially one that is supposed to be defining for them, could be applied in many different situations. What sort of skill combination would make a set of three (2) abilities more useful than a defining (6) ability?

The fact that both skills and stats use the same currency is a little odd as well. Are we sure we want them tied together in that way?
Maybe a separation of Utility and Action abilities will make it so that focusing on Action abilities is not optimal. With some foresight, it is clear that there will be combat again in the future that makes being prepared a necessity.

I can understand and respect that, but you have your ways and I have mine. Choose yours and I'll choose mine.
Lily (Fire & Twins) & Kyouko (Ice & Twins) Level: Both Major Power (Both): 3 Precision (Both): 4 Perception (Both): 2 Presence (Both): 2 Cold Front (K,2): Kyouko's presence is such that she can cause intense cold and freezing over just by walking by, this is negated by Lily's Heat Wave Absolute Zero (K,2): Kyouko can generate ice and cold that freezes so badly that even creatures normally immune to cold/ice are harmed by it Prism (L&K,2): Lily and Kyouko can put those whom they choose into a deep hibernation until such a time as they are needed once more. While affected by Prism, a mortal will not age and will sleep until woken up by a god(dess) or priest(ess) of Mina's religions Supernova (L,2): Lily can generate fire and heat so hot that even creatures normally immune to fire/heat are harmed by it Heatwave (L,2): Lily's presence alone can cause things to heat up intensely or burst into flames when she strolls by, this is negated by Kyouko's Cold Front ===Tool of Office=== Twin Fangs of Fire and Ice -A pair of katana that can are colored red and blue respectively -The Fang of Fire: Can create and control flames that could not normally exist on a Material Plane, as well as burn away spirits -The Fang of Ice: Can create and control ice that could not normally exist on a Material Plane, as well as freeze spirits How are these two, Zale? Their Tools of Office hold up the law of Mina's land though and will never be used.

I get extra skills beyond the abilities I've defined? Well, in that case, how many would I get to choose?

Oh, okay. Because, I mean, if I had to choose anything more, I would totally take the stereotypical woman route. Anything defined as a typical female/womanly job, duty or capability, Uburra-Namall would be able to know and execute with ease.
Then again, she can already kind of do all that stuff anyhow (as a goddess personifying, among other things, the soul of femininity), which would diminish its use, along with reducing the usefulness of Artistic Soul. So, yeah, I guess there's not really anything I need to add after all.

Yes, but I counter that your hunter would still have no idea how to operate a boat. Or perform field medicine. Or paint. Or any number of things. They'd be really, really, really good at hunting but that's all.
If you want a character that's really, really, really good at hunting that's fine. There's no problem with a character who can do one thing, and do it like an artist. But diversification allows you to handle many different situation other than hunting that might come up. It's the difference between a toolbox and a sledgehammer.

From what GV just said, yeah, my skills are already in place, and I don't need anymore.
You saw the goddess's profile, right? Fairest of All and Artistic Soul are her special abilities and her weapon is Heartbreaker.
