The situation in the riddle looks kinda similar to the Colorado Shooting at 'Dark Knight Rises' Movie by that student James Holmes.

"The man had taken his girlfriend to a theater for a chance to propose to her. Unfortunately, his jeweler had grudge against him for an unknown reason and thus gave him a ring rigged with enough energy (deposited over years to plan for revenge) to kill him, his girlfriend and everyone close to them."
