Not to mention, the personality would change over time. Quirks, habits and flaws would pop up.

Well, it depends on how the story/setting would go.

If AI are deliberately made through a reliable process, then the results would be something people want.  I don't think they would want AI with flaws.

Would you rather have a cheerful, nice and compliant AI or a depressing, argumentative and stubborn one?

Which does lend itself to frightening moral questions and fridge horror.

If AIs just happen somehow, then yes they would have flaws. They would likely have personalities that are similar to humans because they just happen.

Easy way to tell. One of them eats and *ahem* excretes, the other doesn't. One of them also sleeps, the other doesn't. And one of them has DNA encoded into it fur that you can use to clone it, I mean, know how kittens work, NO, I mean, uuuuuummmmmmmm, oh I give up I can't think of something to do with DNA that couldn't be considered evil in some way.

Cloning isn't evil......using it to make antidotes isn't evil.

And Neo, if he didn't love cats, among other people, might find out how kittens work so they could use them as carriers of a super plague by finding a strain of virus that is deadly to humans, but cats are immune to, so they can infect a cat, and watch it spread over the world, carried by all the house cats on the planet.
