No, not like that. He and his family play a frantic game of "I'm standing behind.' 'No, It is I who am standing behind you" the night of his escape, then spend several weeks playing a cat and mouse game through the city (because it's possible for him to teach someone else the family magic) with him just one step ahead because he's a prodigy and he actually understands what the magic does (the family is still convinced that it's the ability to see the future).
Eventually, questions about the reclusive Alexandra daughter start being asked. So, to cover themselves, they find a similar enough looking street girl, pay someone to magic her the rest of the way and keep quiet about it, and tell her that she'll be provided for so long as she plays her part. They teach her the magic, Davids prophesy now checks out, and it makes the real Artemis look like a charlatan if he claims to be related to the family. That doesn't mean they're just ignoring him. After all, if he teaches someone else the magic, that has the potential to screw with their bread and butter. But right now they're content to let him get himself killed off in the wastes. I kind of went on the assumption that magic works like in the Nasuverse i.e. hard to develop but very easy to steal. This has the effect of making mages highly protective of their research and legacies.

Your...your explanations...your plot twists...*sigh* are you SURE you don't want to give The Evolutionist's Stone a look-see?
I think you'd be a great asset to the RP.

I know, there's a lot.
But, fortunately, the first four are taken care of, finished. And the last nine are not exactly in order. They're basically different perspectives (and locations) of events taking place at nearly the same time. Gimme a sec. I'll find the summary for you, that I gave to Marv before, and you can choose which thread you'd like to participate in (if any).

I know one way it would be less blah...

Sometime in the future (I've yet to pin down a date) , a strange event will occur. A meteorite will strike earth just as the magnetic poles shift. Things long sleeping awake, People develop strange powers.. Society doesn't crumble so much as slump.
Powerful Superhumans take up for the weakened governments, ruling absolutely within their domains. Some are relatively benign.. while others are horrible tyrants. Our heroes searched for a mythical object. A fragment of the meteorite known as the Evolutionist's Stone. Long story short, it's a fraud. But this does not discourage them from trying to gather people to overthrow the tyrannical overlords. So far, we've had a reasonable degree of success. Now, with more allies than ever, the story splits to follow various groups in different regions, each working against an overlord. For specifics, well, just ask Wulf.

Here, try the one I gave to Marv.
And BTW, even if you don't participate, I really appreciate the opinions of as many readers as possible. Questions, comments, concerns, suggestions, whatever. Either way, I'd be grateful.

Um...yes. Basically all of that.
And I'm here for any specifics anyone wants to discuss. For discussion, here (the main RP Comments thread is where most Evolutionist's Stone RP convo goes).

Perhaps I could Trope out the various characters.
I think that will be by mini-project for this month.

That would be nice.
If you wouldn't mind, you could do that under the Dramatis Personae section that I've placed as the first post in each RP thread. I gave you admin powers so you could edit those posts yourself without needing to wait for me.

Great!
And, though I tried to make personality traits at least vaguely recognizable, if there are any character profiles you think I need to fill in, I will gladly do that.

You know there seem to be a few balancing issues between the three factions. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but they feel unbalanced.
