Elemental Planes Role Play Part 2

[Philote]

The Commander turns around when he hears the group, but the new man does not seem to notice. Turning back, the Commander taps the man's shoulder and he looks up. Water runs up the man's neck and collects into bubbles over his ears.

"I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you enter before. Let me introduce myself. I'm the Commander's son, Phi. I'll be joining you from now on."

The Commander turns and begins searching through some cabinets. In French he speaks "Give me one moment, I'll find something here to help you discuss with your new team better. I'm afraid to ask what happened to the poor men from your last team."

[Celadon's Penultimate]

"Well, it's nice to meet you, Phi." I reach out for a handshake, and then post up against the wall, "So, Phi, what all skills do you possess? From the looks of it, water seems to be your thing, but what in particular?"

[Philote]

"Yes, I have the heart of a water Colossus in me" Phi replies as he reaches up to point at the globes of water covering his ears. "I'm deaf as well, but I've learned to listen by focusing on the vibrations moving through these."

Phi lowers his hand and blue lightning begins to arc around it. "I think you will find that I don't use my Colossus heart conventionally though" he replies with a grin.

[Celadon's Penultimate]

"That's pretty smart power use." I chuckle to myself, "I'm hoping to find stronger uses for my powers as well. Speaking of which, how exactly do sounds...sound to you? Is it like people gurgling underwater?"

[Tsubasa & Wen Tien]

"Merci. (Thank you.) Et ils peuvent parler aussi. (And they could speak as well.)"

[Philote]

Phi laughs "Well this is the only way that I've been able to hear, so I'm sorry if I can't inform you if its different from how things sound to you. I can understand what you're speaking well enough though."

[Philote]

The Commander continues to speak in french. "This is the best I can do for you on such short notice" he says as he pulls out a smart phone. "Type what you wish to speak into this device and it will play it back in another language for you, and if you press this button you can record someone's speech and have it translated back to you in a language you're familiar with."

[Celadon's Penultimate]

I blink vacantly a second, "Oh, right, silly me." Energy builds in my hands, "It's just...I've been thinking. Perhaps I could be of assistance. My power allows me to amplify energy, including elemental powers. So...maybe I could help improve your aquatic hearing ability. Then again, maybe it's best left for when I've gotten better with my power."

[Philote]

"That sounds like an excellent skill for if we needed to listen in on an area discreetly, we may have a use for it in the Elemental Planes soon."

"Speaking of which, this Talos unit has been containing the energy from the last Colossus so that you would not be teleported off before you were ready, but I believe the time has come for us to depart."

[Tsubasa & Wen Tien]

"Merci." I say taking the smartphone and typing in 'C'est parfait! Oui? (This is perfect! Yes?)'

[Philote]

The sound comes out in Spanish. "You may need to fiddle with the settings, but that should cover all your translation needs" Commander Lote replies, still in French.

"It's not a perfect solution, especially with you going into a situation involving combat, but it should prove better than being unable to communicate completely."

[Tsubasa & Wen Tien]

I type 'Je comprends. (I understand)'

[Philote]

"The Talos unit has been refitted with a device to allow it to direct which plane you will travel to" the Commander informs. "From now on, this group will have the special task of hunting down the source of these elementals instead of simply preventing outbreaks like we saw with the previous Colossus. It is time for you all to depart, I wish you the best of luck soldiers." The Commander salutes the team.

I salute back.

[Celadon's Penultimate]

I salute as well, keeping in mind a little prayer that all goes well.

[Philote]

The Commander makes his way out of the room and locks the door, leaving the group alone within the chamber. Phi moves over to the Talos unit and presses some buttons in its spine.

"This is my first time entering the Elemental Planes" Phi says slighly nervous "Well everyone, hold on, here we go!"

the Talos unit releases the absorbed Colossus energy and a white light fills the room as the group enters the portal. The group flies through the light, the trip seeming to take longer than any previous journey through the portal. Energy jumps between all the Colossus hearts embedded within the group and a chain reaction occurs between all the collected hearts. The energy begins to transform the group, causing them to mutate into half-elementals.

Phi, despite just joining the group, transforms as well, energy jumping to him as well as a side effect of traveling with the group. His skin changes, becoming like that of a jelly-fish's and growing out into a shroud around him. Scales grow on his hands and feet. Finally, four octopus tentacles grow out of his back.

When the transformations have ended, the group lands on a shining glass surface, slightly drained from the mutation. A familiar figure stands up a pair of glass steps away from the group. (The light elemental who assisted us during the darkness realm for those who remember).

[Marvelous Miscreant]

As I land I stagger a bit from the disorienting trip. It takes a few moment for me to get my bearings. Suddenly I notice the light elemental.

"Hey, it's youuuu........"

My sentence trials off as I trip and fall flat on my face. As I pick myself up I notice my arms. They weren't my arms. They were stone. I stare at them for a moment before deciding the best course of action would be to freak out.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...."

[Philote]

The cry of Phi's teammate snaps him out of his trance. Looking around, he can still recognize his partners but they have all changed just as he has felt he had. Finally, his gaze falls on the light elemental standing above them.

"You! What have you done to us?" he cries "Change us back!" Blue lightning circles around his jellyfish skin before jumping off as a bolt up the glass stairs.

(Phi has never been to the Elemental Planes, nor does he know this Elemental, but most all of you know him to be an ally.)

[Tsubasa & Wen Tien]

I lands gently, my skin being the only thing that changed, going from its previous color to a pure pitch-black, "Interessant. Je suis le couleur de mon nom maintenant. C'est gentille. (Interesting. I'm the color of my name now. That's nice.)"
