The more I think about it, the more certain I am that Nix would not throw himself in to fend off the dogs with his current power setup. This is unfortunate as I should probably get him over the fence relatively soon.

Alright vault, here's what I want to do.

Take the ground underneath the bush  creating a large sinkhole which both it and the terrier will then fall into, hopefully unharmed. Then I'm going to take the bush. After tearing off my other sweater sleeve to and wrapping it around my hand to form a bite shield, I'm going to reach in, and grab the dog, after poking it several times with a stick to make sure that it isn't a magical juggernaut of pure doom, I will then reach in and grab it, maybe storing it in midspace.

Can my character do all of this with "give and take" at this point.

We'd  use the knives as a medium

several thousand volts charging through the metal, both super heating it, and sterilizing it, wait until the damned thing cools, and cauterize away. i'm not an idiot.
