I do have an idea now about an ability that allows for a bonus to actions under certain conditions..
“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

 Sounds pretty good.

Current Racial Traits...

 •+4 to one ability score.
 •Medium Fey
 •Land Speed of 30 Feet
 •Low-Light Vision
•Racial Hit Die: Fair Folk start with four levels of fey, which provide 4d6 Hit Dice, a base attack bonus of +2, and base saving throw bonuses of Fort +1, Ref +4, Will +4.
•Racial Skills: A ’s fey levels give it 8 x (6 + Int Modifier) skill points. Class Skills are Bluff, Diplomacy, Disguise, Knowledge (Arcana), Listen, Preform, Spellcraft and Tumble.
•Racial Feats: An Elf’s fey levels give it one feat.
•Ageless (Su): Elves never advance past the Young Adult age category. They have a +4 racial bonus on saves versus aging effects.
•Spell resistance equal to 10 + Hit Die.
•Magic Blooded (Su): Because of their highly magical nature, the Fair Folk are effected differently by some spells. Dispel Magic does 1d6 damage per caster level and Greater Dispel Magic does 1d10 damage per caster level. Entering an Antimagic Field causes Elves to wink out of existence, reappearing in the same spot once the spell ends.  If struck with Disjunction, they must make a fortitude save or die instantly, leaving no corpse.
•Untarnished Perfection (Su): Fair Folk have a +2 Racial Bonus against effects that cause ability damage or drain.
•Automatic Language: Common, Elven. Bonus Languages: Any (other than secret languages, such as Druidic).
 •Favored Class: Sorcerer.

So, in other news, I'm working on a character backstory for a game of D&D I'm trying to get into..

(I'm hoping that if I participate in a few games, I'll get my enthusiasm for RPs back.)

I want to know what you think.

Because blah, blah blah confidence issues..

The Sublime Way is basically Wuxia style sword play.

Farai was born in a barbarian tribe far to the southwest, in a savage savanna filled with warring tribes and vicious beasts. Like all people there, Farai was a warrior. She was particularly reckless, a trait somewhat admired by others. At eighteen, she slew a lion as a rite of passage and was awarded with the tattoos of an adult as well as the title Lioness. Following this, she gained the interest of the chieftan's son and they eventually decided that they would marry.

However, while the tribe was distracted celebrating, another tribe decided it was time to take Farai's tribe's land. They struck suddenly and forced her tribe towards the north. Her tribe was forced to wander further and further north, as they were driven out of the territory of the other tribes.

Eventually, they were reduced to assaulting travelers on the northmost edge of the savanna. Farai, vaguely disgusted at having to kill people not trained in war, had the misfortune of leading an assault on a lone traveler, an elvish swordsman. He was from the far north, trained in the sublime way.

It goes without saying that he dispatched with with an ease and grace that Farai had never seen. She ended up kneeling before him with his sword at her neck waiting for death. He spared her.

Indignation and shame flared through her at not only being defeated, but also having him give her life back to her. Her pride allowed few courses of action, but as he walked away she came to a decision. Farai would follow him. She would convince him to teach her how he used a sword and once she learned everything he knew, she would kill him. That would absolve her shame.

Farai left her tribe behind, hoping they would understand, and followed the elf. After a few days traveling north, he invited her to join him at his camp. He introduced himself as Jinro Haru, a follower of the way of the sword from a great empire to the far north.

Weeks passed and eventually Farai began to learn from him. From watching and practicing on her on, to eventually having him teach her directly. It was very difficult for her, requiring a level of self-control and discipline that was wholly alien for her. But she did learn.

It was nearly ten years later that he finally told her she had learned everything she could from him and that only by honing her skills herself would she continue to learn the sublime way. Now, Farai had before her the chance to do what she had been her goal for so long.. but she found she no longer wished to.

Somewhere in the last ten years, Farai had changed. The wildness and raw rage that had led her before was gone. She now loved the controlled and graceful movements of the sword. She now followed the traditions of her master more than her own. She no longer wanted vengeance. She.. liked what she had become more than what she had been.
“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

You realize that you could write better than me without even trying right?

I think I saw a couple typos but story wise it seems really good. You did not really indicate what she does next, though I assume that is because next part is part of the Campaign. Will she have contact from her mentor or her tribe after this point?
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

The first thing I would suggest would be something along the lines of:

Scry - able to see in third person around character, see contents of whatever room you're in, and see "stats" of encountered characters.

You think it's good? :D

Yeah, I have a few more sentences to go about ending up where the campaign starts.

I'm leaving those open. The DM wanted some possible plot hooks.

“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

Iiiiiiiiii'mmmmmmm baaaaaa~~~~~~ck!!! Hawai'i was fuuuuuuun! I got rid of my farmer's tan from working as a lifeguard too! And I got to go on a zipline, though I do regret that I didn't have pinwheels for the zipline....

@Wulf: There is Wi-fi in Hawai'i, but really now. I don't go to Hawai'i for the Wi-fi, I go for the beaches.

@Zale: Hope you feel like GM'ing more soon.

Mahalo and yes I had lots of fun. I got to see an active volcano, Kilaeua, under a perfect hoku (night of the full moon). One of my family friends spent the time making sand sculptures on the beaches of famous people and things, like the Taj Mahal and Shakyamuni Buddha. My sibling got bitten by mosquitos and is so sensitive where she got bitten that everyone is avoiding touching her at all in those spots (she doesn't scratch either, yet she balloons up when bitten anyway). I'm happy but I wish I could have stayed longer but school registration is today, so "Aloha Hawai'i."

Now I have to go read all of what you guys posted while I was gone in the threads I read.

Yeah, that requires that the GM/DM be present...mentally as well as physically.

I can't run so many things at once without breaking down and giving up on all of them.

Speaking of using a thread in order to further your own interests underhandedly by mentioning something that you are working on. Finally got the book published.

Very cool, Jester! I was wondering what happened with that!
