You won't be for long. I'll get back to making more soon. There's still about twenty or thirty to go.

Hey, feel yourself fortunate that Wulf hasn't started yet on creating MythPowers based on the Hindu gods and goddesses.

Alright new powers, fresh out of the oven!

MythPower: Sirius' Service

MythPower: Adreus' Address

MythPower:Fertility Force2

MythPower:Fertility Force3

MythPower: Chloris' Claim

MythPower: Meiboia's Measure

MythPower: Myiagros' Meaning

MythPower: Opora's Opulence

MythPower: Eireisone's Irony

I've nearly filled the main page with my MythPowers again! And I am currently working on a MythPower for Theoria, the goddess of festival embassy (holidays, going to festivals, etc)! That one should be pretty fun to do. I have parts of it figured out, but figuring all of it will require some time.

My guess, some editing may be called for.

I think I may have gone a bit too far with the abstractions. To set it right, some of the personifications may have to be turned into some power beside a MythPower, or a MythPower based on a different god/goddess/spirit.

Dang it, I hate when stuff like that happens. Retconning is not fun AT ALL.

In addition to the ones already listed in this thread, here are my top Mythpower favorites:
Hynos' Lullaby (if any of you have or will have small children, the value of this power goes without need of mention)
Ocean/Tethys' Power
Mnemosyne's Memory
Techne's Teachings
Crisis' Crackdown (again, a must for a parent)
Grace's Groove
Koros' Cruelty (nice creativity on fleshing this one out, BTW Wulf)
Thesis' Theorem (for those of who lack, but lust for, creativity)
Acheilos' Action (pet Jaws... 'nuff said)
Mache's Might
Hermes' Hustle
Heed Hysmine (probably the most overlooked but valuable power for those martial artists who wanna keep it nice, up close, and personal)
And my all time favorite.... Meet the Menae!

' Course that's just the ones I have now. I'm still anxious to see other powers that Wulf is going to pop out.

Thanks. I really do appreciate the feedback.

Unfortunately, I'll eventually have to go through and check them yet again, to make sure they're all their own distinct powers (I hate when multiple powers are too similar, unless they're within the same grouping). And there's some phrasing and whatnot I'll have to change, for the sake of extra writing space.

On the bright side, the rephrasing will likely allow me to upgrade some of the more *blah* type powers. Some of the MythPowers, I realize, could stand to have much more potent capability than they ended up with, and when I finish them all, I plan on going back through them all, day by day, one by one, until the perfect formula has been found for phrasing, to achieve maximum potency for the given deity's domain, rank and personal mythology.

With the help of you guys and my beloved Theoi.com, it will turn out brilliant.

......and in light of recent posts on another thread, I would be remiss if I didn't add Ctesios' Title.  I'm still scratching my head on how I let that one get by me.

No problem, really. At least you find some use in it, which is good enough for me.

Some of the MythPowers, I fear, will have to be greatly redacted and revised to make them more combat ready.

I mean, not all of them are intended for combat, but then those will need to be ramped up in the defense and/or support departments.

Re: Which MythPower is your favorite so far? Which one would you like to see?

When I originally went thru the Mythpower series, I earmarked several of them for later acquisition.  When I compared the earmarked ones I noticed just a few that had overlapping abilities, but there were distinctions. At the time, I was keen on any powers that augmented martial arts/h2h/unarmed combat capabilities, so if there were redundancies in other categories of powers, I didn't catch them.  If you'd like any further feedback on any of your Mythpowers, I'd certainly like to volunteer to be an extra pair of eyes, if you require them (although I don't see a need for much, if any, editing).  I'd just need to know your criteria on what mandates a change.

Also, on your comment about making them more combat ready; I hope you take a healthy dose of your original perspective and stay true to the Mythos when (or if) you decide to retrofit them.  The main reasons I love the whole Mythpower series to begin with are its creativity and breadth of scope.  It deals with other pursuits of the human spirit besides the "Hulk SMASH" impulse.  There's a WHOLE lotta depth to this series and you've done, what I would consider to be your Magnum Opus.  DISCLAIMER:  I haven't read any of your work outside of SPL, so if you have a divine piece of literature floating around, please factor my ignorance in with my assessment.

I say all that to say this... I have a penchant for thoroughly researching topics about which I am passionate.  If you need any assistance, just ask.

I appreciate your perspective and your insight.

I guess what I'm really trying for in a MythPower, is something that's better than a mere parlor trick.

MythPower: Elpis' Expectation allows for some very neat capabilities...but they're so singular in their use, and each seems to be just an extension of the other. Except for the ConPowers, this MythPower just seems one-dimensional.

Whether the new capabilities are passive or aggressive, I'll have to beef it up somehow, to make it much more of a support to allies, and much more of a threat to enemies.

Though, in all, your general opinion of the MythPower is appreciated. If anything in particular sticks out to you, then I'd love to hear it, but I expect neither praise nor criticism, only your thoughts (be they approval, disapproval or critique).

Placeholder response:  You bring up a lot of good, profound points, Wulf.  Unfortunately, it's just after 1am here, I have work in the morning, and your last post deserves a response worthy of someone in his right mind (which is rapidly becoming NOT ME) and not having to feed an 11-month-old boy his bottle.

Let me grab a few hours of shut-eye, and I'll hit you back.  As regards this conversation, to quote Karen Carpenter (yes, I'm that old) "We've only just begun.."

Till tomorrow, Peace out, SPL-brethren!

Okay, so I'm going back now, to work on a couple older ones, before getting back to the current series at hand.

A few really stick out now as sore thumbs, when it comes to lacking combat, defense, support or strategic ability.

To continue our conversation from last night:
Firstly, let me reassure you that none that I've read would remotely be classified as a "mere parlor trick".  Secondly, at this stage of the  SPL's maturity, all contributors are going to be hard pressed to come up with something new.  Most of the substantive powers have already been submitted.  It's going to be a heck of a thing to try and find gaps, I think.  Don't get me wrong, I still get surprised by some of the new submissions (Myself's Quantum Procrastination immediately leaps to mind as an example), but they are getting fewer and fewer in relation to the volume of new powers.

Thirdly, I believe you're having to grapple with the propsect of staying true to the spirit of the god's/goddess' s portfolio vs creating a functional/effective power.  It can often seem like a conflict of priorities... .i.e., do I give the people what they want or do I adhere to the true nature of the deity's domain?.  So far you've done pretty well IMHO, but it's going to be harder due to the reality of my 2nd point above.

If you'd like, I can assist in reviewing each Mythpower one-by-one and see how well each one stands on its own (it'll take some time, since there are like 350 of them).  I can wholeheartedly offer to help shoulder your burden if you'd like the assistance.

Let me know your thoughts on how (or if) you'd like me to proceed,  when you get a free second

As always, your input is helpful, insightful, frank, but seems genuinely well-meaning. I appreciate it.

As for your offer, it would be unfair of me to latch the burden onto you, but if you'd like, then feel free to share your opinions in this thread, at your leisure. It's rare that I'm not available some time throughout the day, so I'll likely get your feedback within a reasonable amount of time, and we can talk about your thoughts and suggestions.

In all, I'm aware that not every power will be perfectly unique, but if I could, I'd like to at least take a new perspective on existing abilities, to make them more suited to the Greek gods' different domains, personalities and myths.

For example, I realized last night that I went a tad bit overboard in MythPower: Hephaestus' Forge with his fiery domain--allowing users to assume a form of fire, which could easily be saved for another deity-- and didn't even make mention of his signature attribute items: a hammer and blacksmith tongs.

And now that I'm out of school for the day, I'mma get right on that.

Well said.  I'm looking forward to re-acquainting myself with your Mythpowers in the near future, and I'll be happy to offer constructive criticism and specific praise points where I find them.

Course, the main site's down again to that infuriating quota thingy, so I'll have to begin in earnest tomorrow.

Good point.  The only problem Wulf might have then is to encapsulate all the coolness of that deity's portfolio within the text limitation of the power's description field.

But I guess that's a good secondary use of the comments section.
