It got brought up in the other thread and shadowulf told me to bring it here.

Probably? We'd be crushed by them...they had to work the fields everyday, combat animals that attacked their villages/towns/settlements, etc. If we were put back in those times, we'd likely pass away and die...

Neanderthals bred with Modern Man Some scientists claim that a child skeleton, found in Portugal in 1998, has a mixture of Neanderthal and Modern human features. For them, it's proof of interbreeding. Other scientists dispute the claim and DNA tests on 3 other Neanderthal fossils have found no evidence for interbreeding. Research on the child continues. The debate is far from over. --------------- I doubt it..

HAHA! Well, ya never know. I'd believe it if they could lift some Neanderthal DNA and compare the sample to that from the child.

Anyway, honestly.
They probably had different thoughts on what was "Attractive". Humans probably looked like scrawny weirdos to them. Neanderthals probably looks awfully beefy to most humans.. Would you want to date a girl who could easily beat you in an arm-wrestling match?

leave this area now if you wish to retain your sanity, lest we question the origin of the centaur and mermaid.
Are we genetically inferior, or is it just an unfulfilled potential.

just because something is bigger does not neccessarily mean it is stronger, case in point the chimpanzee, thinner and small er than most humans with the strength of three men.

Genetically inferior to whom?

They had more bone density and stronger muscles. Considering they spent most of their time hunting things, I'd think they'd be stronger.

thousands upon thousands of years of sheltered life and well to be blunt inbreeding has weeded out most of the needed characteristics of our species, honestly I blame the creation of the barter system/economy once someone gets rich through luck or inheritance competition goes out the window.

Sheltered life doesn't make for inferior genetics.
What inbreeding? You blame.. Economics.. for genetic inferiority..

Once you become the best you begin to regress without any competition, because you don't need to continually advance in order to stay in the lead.
Don't tell me you've never heard of inbreeding between the rich and successful, Cleopatra married Her brothers for Pete's sake, and don't get me started on the english royal family. Yes, I blaim the economy, it makes sense if you think about it. Society is driven by money instead of actual characteristics which inevitably leads to contradictions in society. Also, have you ever seen the movie Idiocracy?

Okay. I'm up to speed.
@Jester: No, we're not genetically inferior, just weaker. Don't assume that our ancestors were so much better off than we, because while they had brawn, and the know-how of their centuries, we have brains, and the capability to find any knowledge that we don't already know (almost). BTW: Please, we all know centaurs and mermaids impossible to come across. Though I'm sure the farm-girls out in some forsaken country town will have a good time trying to prove me wrong... @Zale: I agree, they would have been much stronger, but not as intelligent, because the time wouldn't call for it. BTW: Jester and Zale, please wait for the other to respond before going off on a tangent, it's VERY difficult to catch up
