Hey, what do you think of me putting a Nephilim in the RP?
By that I mean the giant children of fallen angels and human females..

Well, I know who the Nephilim are, Zale, what with my fasicnation with religion and mythology and all, but I'm not sure how well this would go over as far as PC (political correctness) goes...I mean, you would have to explain who the Nephilim were for those who DON'T know who the Nephilim are...and even then, a Biblical/Talmud reference...I dunno...

Well, we do have half-demons..
As for PC, They are somewhat obscure. Like you said, most people wouldn't even know what they are. But generally all you have to know is they're tall and strong and good at fighting.. And to run.

I mean, technically, they are half-demons, too, because demons are the angels that left heaven in rebellion to God at the Beginning...so, yeah, now I think of it, they could be used. Perhaps you would want to put in parentheses that 'Nephilim' is pretty much synonymous with 'half-demon'...that it's just a specific variation...

That could work.
The only real difference I see is that they have a more uniform bunch of variations. It could just be a sub-type of half-demon. The only real ideas I had about it was that the character's family had dormant Nephilim blood that was activated by the event. Because she wasn't born yet, It changed her to make her one. I.E she grew much faster after she was born, and gained the typical characteristics.

Might be a little shady but then again angels and demons have been in fiction for a loooong time.
I mean Jack is a demon(half) and he is in the story and an explanation was given for his origins-I remember from somewhere. But I just came up with a plotline after reading it over and looking at all the characters. People are trying to stop Jack because of a prerecog predicting that Jack is the Anti-christ. The meteor is the result of heaven and hell converging which causes mutations that lead to superpowers. The time traveler comes from an alternate timeline that wants to prevent the apocalypse by preventing Jack from completing his quest and unknowingly causing Armageddon. However they find out that Jack isn't the Antichrist and its someone else-insert character here. I don't know if this sounds cheesy or genius. If you don't like it then you don't have to go with it. Just giving a burst of thoughts while I have it still in my head. |

Yeah, it should be okay...I mean I agreed to allow an anthro character when Everblade suggested it, and I'd probably be okay with aliens and half-aliens as well, so it should be okay to use the character. And make sure you add "Nephilim Physiology", or "Nephilim Blood" or something like that as a part of her abilities (to of course explain her size, strength, etc.

@Wish: What the crap?! The antichrist??? Um, perhaps that's a LITTLE too far into the realm of religion. Besides, if we did that, I had some evil folks in mind for something that sinister...perhaps we could work together on that if such a plot were to be worked in. Maybe in another RP, perhaps taking place prior to, or after, this one, where demons and angels and the like are more common, instead of just superpowered humans... any thoughts?

Yes, we're sorta toeing the line with religion it in this RP.
If we go to far into the it, we will offend someone. Its an interesting idea, but perhaps something that would be less likely to offend someone? If you really want to do it, then I think another RP would be in order. One more focused on religion. Perhaps set a long time after the current one? Or perhaps another one entirely? If so we could do one about another world the christian god made. One with different rules and prophecies.. Like say, in another world there are periods when angels and demons are allowed to walk freely and do as they wish, alternated with periods where angels must be discrete and demons are -more or less- chained and bound. It could be interesting and If we did it the right way, we could avoid crossing certain lines..

yeah, exactly...
I had writing a story like that, for some time (Not an RP, a full-length novel), and I still think it'd be a great idea...but if we do that, I think it should be another RP. If we do (a phrase which I must stick to adamantly; IF) then here's the idea... a promiscuous woman (who ironically enough intends on someday having a family). figures out that she has contracted a terrible disease that prevents her from having kids. she goes home and basically becomes a nervous wreck. one day in town, she's propositioned by a mysterious stranger who knows about her promiscuity. however, he claims that he can help her to get pregnant, on two conditions. the first condition that is that HE is the father. the second condition, he says he will name later. she agrees, and turns up pregnant, with SEVEN girls. upon childbirth, the father reveals his secnd condition. he gets to name the daughters and she has to relinquish them to him after a year and 301 days, to grow up with him and eventually assist him in a plot to find the Antichrist and help him rise to power... the daughter's names are Vaingloria, Parsimone, Desiree, Edacia, Nastalia, Slomona and Invidia; they are named after (and imbued with the powers of) the Seven Deadly Sins...collectively called the Seven-Sin Sisters... whaddya think? ==IF ANYONE TAKES THIS IDEA, PREPARE TO PERISH==

Which is which?
I'm guessing the first one is Pride, Slomona is sloth, Desiree is lust... Interesting, But how would it pan out as a roleplay?

Vaingloria- Pride (ie the word "vainglory" or "vainglorious")
Parsimone- Greed (ie "parsimony" or stinginess) Desiree- Lust Edacia- Gluttony ("edacious" means gluttonous) Nastalia- Wrath (think vicious and nasty) Slomona- Sloth (slow...) and Invidia- Envy (Roman name for the goddess of indignation and envy) as far as an RP, it could perhaps turn into a short little saga of the evil Damon Wilde, how he tricks poor Jessebelle Carnum, and people who want to help, and people who want to stop him... but you know, it may or may not pan out...maybe I just have RP's on the brain, lol

I had an idea.
I mixed up the two ideas, and came up with something like this. The setting is pretty much the same, Angels and Demons at war. However, I'm sure you've read about the angelic choir-things ( Angels, Archangels, Principalities) If we reduced the number to seven, we could give each one aspects of one of the seven virtues, then give their fallen counterparts the deadly sins of them. And, It's possible that demons are attempting to make or find an antichrist to help "lead the charge" so to speak, since they're kinda outnumbered, While the angels are attempting to prevent this and keep the demons from destroying everything..

um...
still not sure how I'm feeling about the whole RP idea in the first place, but if we do, then those are definitely things I'll take into consideration...but, yeah I kinda am having second thoughts...maybe we can let the others weigh in...

again...kinda feeling skeptical now about it...I mean, I'm Christian, and if I were to do this as a separate story, I would be able to kinda feel for myself how far I can go without me feeling that it is offensive...not saying any of YOU would cross that line, but if you did, I'd hate to correct you, and yet I'd still be conflicted about the accuracy (or inaccuracy) of anything that was not biblically correct...
