@Wish: Haha!

Speaking of power orphanage, the newest power (Yours, Jest) is familiar, but I can't reject it because I forget the name of the power already featured on the superpowerlist. Wish, do you remember the name of that power (that lets you compel living things as well as inanimate objects)?

Re: Power Orphanage

"Command"
Intuitive Aptitude would fullfill the skill requirement, but there are some powers which state you will need practice or to hold the power over a long period of time to gain the full set of abilities explained in the description. The idea was that you'd be given the full amount/control of power immediately, without having to mess around with waiting for a long time. I doubt it'd be able to transform Telekinesis into Ultimate TK, since Telekinesis doesn't actually say "With years of practice, you can make this as powerful as Ultimate TK"
For the second one, I was imagining a sort of 'continuation' of the concept in the Strange Visitor power. Each power allows you to transform into a fictional character from whatever category the power is. The first few ideas I had were Psions/Psychics, non-omnipotent gods (since there was a Pantheon By Day that allowed you to transform into any actually-believed in gods, so I think having almost any fictional deity would be neat too), magic users, mutants, machines, and undead.

I'm going to set myself (ha ha) a challenge; make a form of near-omnipotence which has enough restriction to be approved without changing it too much.

After all, Infinity Gauntlet was approved even though that granted TOTAL omnipotence. It makes me mad.

I'm thinking along these lines:
Were Omnipotence:
-On the full moon, you change into another form which possesses a limited form of omnipotence. This omnipotence cannot be affected by power-affecting powers but is limited to the present. You lose your other powers for the time being. If you can get followers, their belief in you will charge up your power. If you step out of the moonlight, you revert to normal. Omni Vampires, people with god-based powers and Immutable people are immune to your powers.

Pros:
-Every full moon, you can do virtually anything.
-Your power is immune to power-affecting powers.
-The more followers you have, the more powerful you are.

Cons:
-Lose all your other powers for the time being.
-Omni Vampires, god-powered people (i.e. MythPowers) and those with Immutability are immune to your powers.
-You don't get the other omni's.

What do you think? If you think it should be altered even more to make it suitable for the list, tell me your suggestions. I hope this is not seen as too powerful, otherwise I will add more counters.
Bow before your unimaginably powerful overlord!

Wait a minute, I'm currently too busy holding a cork in mid air for petty groveling.

Re: Power Orphanage

Don't. Just don't.

It's an open invitation for the debate to come up again. I really think you should just let it drop. I know you're not trying to bring it all up again, but that's what will happen. Example of the sort of thing that will come up: It's not omnipotence, out of the simple fact that your power has limits.

=/

So, please... I'd really really recommend not going further on that thing.

It's a good idea, really, but it's going to cause problems.

Sorry if I seem angry in this post; I'm just trying to add a lot of emphasis to my points.

Notes:
The Infinity Gauntlet power on the site doesn't grant total omnipotence. There's six different gem powers on the site, each one of which controls something different, but also removes your ability to use any other powers, ever. The gauntlet power just lets you use other powers when you have a gem power, so you can have all six together. It's not explicitly omnipotence, thought I'm not sure what you are incapable of doing with all the gems together (of course, there are other powers on the site which I'm not sure what you're incapable of doing once you have them).
And, anyway, it seems sort of a moot point, since it is going to be removed (or so I think...?)

And, to comment on your power itself, it really looks like just moon-based reality warping to me. Why would omnipotence need to be charged up?

1) Good point, I would have needed to think of that.
2) I'll take your advice.
3) I see why.
4) You don't seem angry, you make some very good points.
5) It was still a prototype power. I should have stated something like nigh-omnipotence.
6) I thought Infinity Gauntlet was omnipotence.
7) It was never specified that you needed to have the six other gems to use it.
8) Since when is it going to be removed?

Could someone tell me the complete definition of omnipotence? I have a general idea, but I'll need the detail.

Re: Power Orphanage

Josh
It's a either "The ability to do absolutely anything one wants at will" and "Infinite, unlimited, and almighty power" depending on who you ask, though many (maybe most) would say that, when you get down to it, the two are the one and the same. It's more used to refer to deities than anything, and generally implies that it can never, ever be overcome. That's why it's so overpowered, if one possesses true omnipotence, they can't be defeated unless they choose to be defeated.

You're right about the Infinity Gauntlet in the comics (I haven't actually read it, but I have read the wikipedia article). It grants omnipotence there. But the one on the list, while really really powerful, never states that it grants actual omnipotence. It might, but the wording of the power implies it just allows one to use the other six gem powers without losing your other abilities.

I might be mistaken, I thought it said in the comments that they had requested its removal.

Re: Power Orphanage

I'm not sure if that's a very proper definition. I don't think resistance would be at '150%' so much as 'absolutely trans-infinite'. And it's not just bending reality, it's literally causing anything the user desires-absolutely ANYTHING at all-to happen.

HAHA, that was an earlier post of mine on that site. Try THIS one...

Omnipotence is, simply put, having unlimited power. One with this capacity could bend the bounds of all reality to his wish, to make anything possible. Its effects bypass every defense, and overcome all opposition, even Reality Bending, Invulnerability, Immutability and Time Defiance. Therefore, the user is the ultimate power; he cannot die on his own, be killed, or even be maimed, as his resistance is infinite on all levels. He couldn't even be tricked or outsmarted, as he automatically possesses Omniscience and Omnipresence (therefore knowing everything and existing beyond the limits of space-time).

•This ability cannot be bestowed, boosted, negated, traded, mimicked, absorbed or otherwise manipulated. This ability is a divine faculty, attributed only to a deity (primarily God).

Re: Power Orphanage

To put it in perspective: many philosophers will state that there can only be ONE being that possesses true omnipotence at any one time, otherwise there will be a paradox just from the mere POTENTIAL for conflict to exist.
Not to say that there aren't arguments against that idea, but it's still a good example of just how potent omnipotence is supposed to be.

Hey Wish, why don't you go on the Substitute Battle Arena anymore? It's getting interesting at the moment.

If you want to re-enter the fight, I'll give you a heads-up (events aren't in order):
1) I locked neogenetica in a wine cellar. I'm not sure why I chose a wine cellar.
2) When neogenetica did not reply after that, I mimicked Farslayer through Omnipotent Power Mimicry and put him out of his misery.
3) When you weren't replying, I mimicked Forced Superpower Activation through The Superpower List. I used this to force you to use The Door, before telekinetically pushing you in and barricading it shut.
4) Zale sucked us all into his mind using Mind Contraption and *tried* to turn us into powerless ducks. Unfortunately for him, Immutability kicked in and we escaped, after I gave him a bit more than a migraine with Human Energy Container.
5) When nobody was replying, Shadowulf1, WHD and I all gave each other fortresses, guards, etc. I gave them each an object I had used The Dorian Gray Complex on.
6) Everblade joined the fight, but it's basically a stalemate -we can't hurt each other very easily. We'll need strategy to get rid of him.
7) They were about to hurt me, but I made a copy of Alex using Power of Imagination. He started arguing about Perfect Immortality and it distracted everyone long enough for me to escape.

Teams:
1) WHD + Shadowulf1 + Myself (that joke's getting old). We are linked by Reincarnation 5: Soul Link, Pack Invulnerability and Power Sharing. That means we have more powers than Vespert.
2) Everblade + Zale: Everblade is just protecting Zale. Funnily enough, he though I was fighting Shadow,so he protected him, leading me to offer an invite to both of them. They haven't responded, apart from trying to kill us.
3) Greenday + neogenetica: Essentially one person, both controlled by neogenetica. With neogenetica dead though, Greenday's alone, unless he happens to resurrect neogenetica.
4) Wish: All alone, but I have a feeling you will join Greenday and neogenetica.

If team 1+2 and 3+4 merge, it'll be all-out war!

What does everyone think of Jump 3: Omniless? It hasn't been added yet, but it can allow the user to live a life without omni-powered beings (except God himself). This power protects you from omnipotence, but nobody can complain. The difference between it and Omni Vampire (a seemingly much hated power) is instead of getting rid of an omni, you can enter a universe where such beings, other than God himself, cannot exist.

What do you think? The universe is completely identical to the one you left, only without people possessing omni powers (again other than God himself -I am a Christian).

How about this one. Unkowing omnipotence.

You are completely omnipotent, as long as you don't believe that you are omnipotent. If someone manages to convince you that you are omnipotent you loose this power, and cannot get it back, since you were aware that you were once omnipotent.
Welcome one and All to the Jesters Carnival, where the prizes are greater than your wildest dreams, but the nightmares here shall silence you before you can even scream.

If an omnipotent person entered that universe, they would lose their omni powers. This is because the physical laws do not allow such powers.
