New Beginning 22: Once Upon a New Beginning...

"There's no point in showing off unless, you're absolutely sure that there's no way you're going to lose or win, though if it's the latter, then it's a sad situation."

"If he had really wanted to end this, the whole of the arena would have collapsed into a singularity. I suppose he considers that boring."

[Tsubasa & Wen Tien]

"My opinion is that that would not only be unnecessary, but also overly flashy. It would be utterly pointless."

[Zaleramancer]

Amaros raised an eyebrow.

"Pointless? It's rather difficult to accomplish anything when reduced to a biological slurry of infinite density, in a patch of space where all paths lead to further crushing weight."

[Tsubasa & Wen Tien]

Suzu nods, "Yes, it would be pointless, because then there would be no point to the fight. If you can't have any joy, then what's the point? Neat, clean moves with a purpose to end the fight with a single cut. Aaaaaah, iaijutsu how I love thee."

[Zaleramancer]

"That is precisely what Master Zale is doing now. Killing things cleanly is terrifyingly easy. Fighting on limited grounds- a worthy challenge. I prefer to avoid these sorts of fights, normally. I am the type to arrange so that a fight never appears."

[Tsubasa & Wen Tien]

"Doesn't feel that way to me," Suzu whines. "But then maybe it's been too long since I've had a decent fight. Despite your previous words, wanna have a quick spar with me?"

[Zaleramancer]

The youngish man shrugs.

"If you'd like."

[Tsubasa & Wen Tien]

"All right then," Suzu cries out, jumping into an empty part of the arena as a sheathed ivory-white sword appears in her right hand. "Let's get this show on the road!"

Suzu draws the blade, revealing it to be a cross between a rapier and a katana, holding it before her in a practiced stance with one hand.

(Yes, this is Excelsior, the sword mentioned in the Q&A thread. It's poisonous to any magic user and can absorb magic to strengthen its structure and/or its strikes.

Sniffing at the blade, Amaros darts backwards, putting distance between himself and Suzu.

He appraises a nearby table, before lifting it with one hand and hurling it at her.

"My apologies for the crudeness."

[Tsubasa & Wen Tien]

"That's fine," Suzu replies as she moves her free hand back then swings forward with an open palm punch. "B.U.R.S.T. Strike!"

The table shatters into thousands of pieces, flying in graceful arcs around Suzu without touching her as she hits it, "I'll just make up for it with a supernatural martial arts, Combat Tech."

[Zaleramancer]

Amaros chants and claps his hands together as countless mystical petals appear, each razor sharp. They flutter towards Suzu like a deathly wind.

[Tsubasa & Wen Tien]

Suzu concentrates, forming the image of a sphere in her mind, before running towards Amaros as a sphere with parts in the form of hexagons appears around her absorbing the damage from the petals.

"I've never quite understood naming attacks." Amaros said as he summoned a silver fencing foil. "Well, that is not quite it. Names have power, of course, it is just that somethings.."

He moved into a fencing stance.

"..are more powerful than names."

Suzu moves straight in to stab Amaros on the point of Excelsior, "It's not just the naming of the attack or technique that makes it stronger, it's also the rush of adrenaline that one gets just from yelling out loud."

[Zaleramancer]

The blow was parried by the darting foil, sliding it to the side.

"Ah, but there are so many ways to do that without yelling." He blinked, taking advantage of Suzu's closeness to raise a hand and send forth snaking blue electrical arcs from his fingers towards her.

"Your sword has a most unnerving aura."

(Basically all of Amaros's attacks will be magic, unless I explicitly note so.)

Suzu parries the lightning with Excelsior, the blade absorbing the bolts into itself reinforcing its structure for the next attack to come as Suzu moves back a few steps, "Of course it does. Excelsior is an old weapon designed by the teacher of my Mistress's family with ancient crafting techniques. According to her, this blade is a representation of my soul, which appears to dislike magic being used against it. The art of making these weapons without using physical objects was lost long ago and it would be a modern legend if any of our people could rediscover the lost school of Combat Tech."

[Zaleramancer]

"Fascinating. In that case, I should, as they say in these days, step up my game."

A dense purple fog expanded from his feet, flashing with red and green. It enveloped the area, shading and billowing. Contorting figures and translucent faces darted among the colors as red lighting arced among the area. Chittering voices danced between the highs and the lows.

The earth gave way, as bits of it fell and others soared. Amaros stood on a floating piece of rock. With a sharp word he released his foil, which hovered before him. A gesture and it twisted and grew- becoming a blackish greatsword.

Catching it easily with his right hand, he glanced at Suzu.

"I have fought mage-killers before."

He leapt forward, rainbow lighting streaming off him and his sword.

Suzu pulls Excelsior into a position to stab, "But you haven't faced me before!"

She slides forawrd her edges blurring, moving faster than the regular mortal eye could see and appeared behind Amaros before stabbing towards him, Excelsior enhanced with pure ki as it flashed with bright light.

[Marvelous Miscreant]

The sounds of extra combat reach my ears as I relax amongst the stands. I open one eye and leer down at the arena.

"Oh ho ho.....What's this??" I chuckle as I spy the new battle going on, "A fight between two people I've never met? This might be interesting."

With a hop and a skip I stretch down the stands and find a seat as close the action as I could manage.
