"Aquilla has one of the passes to get us to Zale, correct? If so then we should meet up with our allies and collect the other two."

"Is there anything we need to do with Aquilla's companions before we set off?" I question.

[Gentleman Vaultboy]

"Come on, out with it."

*SLAPP*

"Tell me your secrets, crow."

*SLAPP*

"Come on, or I'll bake you into a pie."

*SLAPP*

These things echoed out into the library to no avail. This was an unprecedented display of tolerance. Usually by this point the recipient cracked out of sheer annoyance. Undeterred, she sighed and raised up the halibut for another strike. "You know, maybe it would be faster to ask you guys what you know." he called to the vizier and the golden bull, who Slife seemed to have taken a linking to. "This bird is being entirely unhelpful."

[Zaleramancer]

"Malphas couldn't tell the truth if you held a sword to his throat." The Vizier sighed. "It's doubtlessly very simple. Certain.. enemies of mine and Haagenti have chosen to take this lapse in defenses to come after our, ah, unworthy hides."

[Zaleramancer]

The girl started to open her mouth, only to have Taika override her

"She had her clearance revoked after the time she went hunting for endangered thunder beasts."

Aquilla burst forth indignantly, "Endangered? There's like a billion of 'em."

"Yes, but those are the only ones left. We're having enough problems fixing them a habitat without you wantonly slaughtering them."

The two lapsed into an argument they'd obviously had many times before. The tall boy returned to his book as the other two children watched the fight with interest.

I try to distract the two from their bickering by asking more questions of the situation at hand. "Then who should we seek out for three more passes? Which of my allies has already come about a person with a pass and how can we connect with them?"

[Gentleman Vaultboy]

"Well, they certainly sent a lot. An army for 2 men? And what sort of 'lapse in defenses?'"

[Marvelous Miscreant]

I begin to trudge through the swap towards where I had left the path.

We are currently trying to save our friend Zale from within his dimension of a library. If you can find a way through his dimension we would welcome your help. (You may wish to read the rest of this thread and the end of the last thread, NB 20)

Indeed. Some assistance would be nice. As would a clue from Zale's, um, helpers here.

[Zaleramancer]

Taika simmered down for a moment and glared at Aquilla.

"Where are we?"

The other girl, clamped her mouth shut for a moment to control her temper before answering.

"Near the Soul Nexus. They're being assaulted by some sort of demons. We think that the Vizier is inside, and I'm going to find him.. And shoot down some demons."

She swiveled towards the children.

".. Though I was supposed to watch them. " Aquilla said with exasperation, "But they'll look after themselves fine."

Shifting her bow from hand to hand, she marched off down a hall.

"Sorry about that. Aquilla has always been a bit.. odd." Taika said, glancing at Phi and Wulf. "She was the elemental personification of a storm during her formative years."

"Let's just follow her and get this over with."

[Zaleramancer]

"Allow me to explain", Began the Vizier.

"You see, Haggenti and I are not exactly native to this dimension. We come from one of countless infernal universes, ruled over by a tyrannical King. I and several of my comrades were key actors in a wide spread conspiracy to assassinate our ruler and take control.. However, when we succeeded, we found that without the fear of the King, every petty lord wished to become the new Ruler of Worlds.."

"Chaotic Anarchy reigned and many of us fled to other places. I was lucky enough to find asylum here, under the watchful eye of my new Boss. Any incursions into this place would be squashed with pathetic ease.."

Shifting uncomfortably, he continued.

"The Master is currently rather.. indisposed. Because he was so closely connected to this place, most of the defenses and systems here have been lobotomized. Nothing is keeping out those that would flay me alive."

"And it seems that the King has risen again. So, it is in my best interests currently to return my Boss to his normal state in order to remain in existence."
