Nation of Machines (Planning)

So, this is the planning thread for my Giant Robot RP idea I began in the Roleplay Creator Thread. I'll be doing all my planning in this thread. Any help, feedback or suggestion is appreciated.

The Plot:

In the past, war was waged with swords and shields, but humans, ever the adaptive race, have always invented new ways to combat the weapons of their enemy. So as time progressed the human race quickly escalated from swords to cannons, from cannons to guns, from guns to tanks and so on. It was not long until they were forced to build great machines to do battle with one another. And so in man's pursuit of perfect war, the Mech was born.

Mechs were the epitome of battle and soon a great world war was fought for control of power Mechs brought. This war scarred the earth and scorched the land, leaving it desolate and barren.

It has been many decades since the war, but mankind has not recovered. In the waste that was left human scratch out a living by fighting for the meager resources with what is left of the Mechs.

In things continue like this, mankind will soon perish entirely. A change is needed and as luck would have it, a band of Mech pilots seek just such a change...

You may use it to design a mech now or wait till later when I've ironed out any rule changes I may need to make. Of course you can always just design several mechs you don't plan to use personally, that can be used as NPCs.

I just have to say that this looks interesting, but I don't do well with tech. So, no, no questions, however I will read it.

How do you determine..

The amount of mods, systems and such that you get.

How many AIs you can have..

Etc..

Right now, the only limit is the amount you can purchase, build or find and afford to have built into your mech. Also, by a less strict standard, how much space your mech has (i.e. you cannot place more than one thing in the same place...common sense)

Most mods, extra systems and such won't be accessible at the very start.

Why do you think that is? If it is because you do not like dealing with the technical aspects of narrating the use of Tech items, you don't have to worry, you can narrate your mech as you would a character of magic or superpowers and leave the technical aspects to me.

Scratch that second part, I think it may be better to simply give players a starting amount of cash to be spent on things or to be saved for later.

of course that will require me to set prices and develop gear. A task I certainly shall enjoy, but would also appreciate input or suggestions on.

I'm fine with the technical aspects, I'm just not that into mechs. I mean, I do like some mechanical things, like the HVSS that Ruby in RWBY uses, but for me, I prefer the mundane or the magical. Mechs just don't work out for me.

I like robots mostly. Designing strange mechs should be fun.

Then think of it simply as Armor....really big armor. A lot of fighting will be much like normal fights amongst people...just on a bigger scale. Plus you get to customize a cool character with modular powers and weapons.

It will take me a bit to develop a decent amount of things to buy at the start so if you have any suggestions for parts, mods, systems, features, or weapons let me know.

Well yes, the many features, mods, systems and parts can be added or removed from the Mech to customize its appearance, performance and abilities. Modular.

I hope to god I'm using that word correctly. I'm pretty sure I am...but.....
