I seem to find more plains/forest than anything else.

Does anyone else here know how to build a witch farm? It'd be worth the effort, because you get an infinite supply of:
-Glass bottles: Fully renewable potions without trading.
-Spider eye: Spiders only drop these when killed by hand, but this is able to be automated. They are made into fermented spider eyes (in a process which can also be automated) which are used in potions.
-Sticks: If I actually get around to learning to mod and making that enderchest mod, this would let your witch farm supply your friends who are mining with all the sticks they needs for ladders, torches, tools or even emergency fuel. Could alsobe a way to fuel a small automated smelting device without it.
-Glowstone dust: Renewable without trading and eliminates the need to go to the nether.
-Redstone dust: Renewable without trading and eliminates the need to mine (even though on many servers players are throwing it away).
-Gunpowder: I do not find it very useful, but if you were using creepers for a non-mobtrap reason, such as automating cobblestone production, this could be a very useful secondary source.

One could use a system of hoppers to sort them all out. For instance, assuming I had a server with my planned mod installed:
-The sticks could be filtered into an enderchest to supply those mining and supplying the group with minerals like diamond or lapis lazuli (although gold, redstone and iron could be farmed, the miners could still do well mining them).
-The redstone, glowstone and gunpowder may be stored partially in nearby chests for potion making with the excess supplying a town via a Minecart system. All would be kept separate, of course.
-The glass bottles would likely by stored on site, with the overflow possibly being disposed of.
-Spider eyes would be immediately fermented automatically and would then be stored in a chest.

I'd actually set up a small potion factory nearby in such a situation, being supplied with blaze rods through some means and growing nether wart nearby. The witch farm would supply most of my needs while I keep it loaded and active, most likely with a railway going to the nearest town bringing resources. In my spare time (i.e when not brewing potions or waiting to be restocked) I'd supply automatic smelting machines by chopping down trees in the nearby swamp biome (I'd likely get all my food this way via apples), possibly reaping the rewards of an animal farm too (such as giving those making cake buckets of milk) or harvesting ink sacs/fishing in the nearby water. THIS is the reason I'd like to make that mod; other players just doing their own thing would supply you with things you need.

My mum doesn't use go online very often other than for email. My dad doesn't use it for recreation in any form.

On the plus side, once I get Minecraft up and running, a microphone, a recording program and of course java experience along with the necessary coding tools, I can start my Minecraft mod/s. Here are some ideas for it:
1) Powered Enderchest: Power the Enderchest to access a universal inventory, allowing machines such as hoppers to place items inside or extract them. A "machines-only" inventory may come later.
2) Minecart with Enderchest: An easy-to move Enderchest, avoiding the need for silk touch/extra eyes of ender.
3) Erosion: Flowing water in in contact with cobblestone will transform the block into gravel over time and do the same for gravel and sand, then break the sand via the same process. With a cobblestone generator, redstone clock and several pistons, you could completely automate the production of sand. Combined with a mob grinder, you could make as much TNT as you desired.
4) Grate + wicker block: Each is placed in-world and will allow certain items to fall through them but not others. The grate permits any small item (e.g. flint, feathers) while the wicker on allows powdery substances. Both will turn gravel and sand into items and allow them to fall through. The wicker will convert gravel which falls through into flint and sand while livestock will not walk over a grate.
5) Compost silo: Throw biodegradable stuff (e.g. rotten flesh, flowers, ink sacs) inside and let it be converted into dirt with possible byproducts. Some may have a byproduct if they possess non-degradable byproducts. Flint may be able to be manufactured by placing four arrows inside.
6) Transmutation enchantment: An enchantment for the bow which would convert a passive mob hit by the arrow into a random other passive mob. Combined with eggs, one could create farms anywhere on the map.
7) Arcane gems: Every mob would have a low chance (I'm thinking of 1 in 1000, but it seems far too common since it is intended to encourage mob grinders) to drop a specific shard. When four of these are collected, you may craft the gem form, which would be able to cast a specific spell. For instance, skeletons would drop shards of conjuration, which, when crafted into gems, would allow you to generate one of any raw material, up to and including diamond.
8) Mooshrooms dropping nether wart: If you shear mooshrooms in the nether, they would drop nether wart instead of red mushrooms.
9) Soul pot: All mobs would drop souls, but these would be destroyed if picked up by the player and would not be collected by hoppers. These would be collected by a soul pot and enable a form of alchemy, such as gunpowder to redstone, empty bottles to bottle 'o enchanting, sand to soul sand, bonemeal to alchemical bonemeal (which would function as it did before 1.5) and more.
10) Clay fishing: Some fish caught when fishing would be unfit for eating, but could be crafted into clay balls,

It is designed to be fully playable on a skyblock-style map. It would also allow you to make more resources renewable. They would be added slowly, as I develop experience they would get more complex.

What do you think? Ideas? Unbalanced?

Still, ya gotta be better than me. I just started two days ago and have just managed to get to the stage where I'm able to take out one or two bots a game.

They've updated the AI a few times. When I first started playing, Bots were so stupid that you could drop them by entering the bushes.

It is indeed. I normally dislike games like this simply because I;m forced to team up with people I don't know who continuously try to tell me how to play the game and why everything I do is wrong.
