I was using a similar design and almost had it right. You sir, are a redstone genius.

Complex redstone; not my specialty, especially since I often refuse to use the wiki. I can automate many things though.

I have a tendency to use the wiki.

I used the logic circuits to figure out how to work something.

I'm hardly an innovator.

I use the wiki for non-redstone things, which I enjoy working out myself. The only parts I look up is how each part works, such as the new latches.

I prefer to have all the pieces to the puzzle before me.

In other news, I plan on finding a nice-sized mountain, hollowing it out and making a red-stone based laboratory.

I spent at least eight hours perfecting this circuit.

And all it does is shuffle one piston and two blocks around.

It's basically a 1 block hole, three blocks deep when it gets done, though it looks like a normal part of the floor before.

Piston A pulls the floor-block downwards. Piston B set horizontally in the wall grabs that block off Piston A. Piston C, set at a right angle to Piston B, pulls Piston A into the wall. Piston D pulls Piston A in the same direction as Piston B. Then Piston E pushes a block up to fill the hole left by piston A.  

Essentially, it turns normal ground into a 1x3 hole without any visible pistons.

And it, of course, doesn't work properly when I try to install it where I wanted it.

Can't wait until 1.5, which will probably make all this simpler and more compact.

I've also discovered, to my amusement, that I'm better at redstone when sleep-deprived than when I'm not.

I have found similar things in my life, such as my aim with a sniper rifle in Borderlands 2, if my speech made no sense.
