This is why I don't watch the news.
They only report depressing things.
“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

And that's why I DO watch the news. This world is in trouble, and ignorance is bliss, but knowledge is power.

To be able to number the tales of death and drama given by those who's only wish is to provoke sadness and the darker parts of men is no power I wish part of.
It is because of this that people think the world is a darker place than ever before.

The world is somewhat darker. The present darkness is also far more obvious than ever before, though.
The revelation of that darkness is far more relevant than any focus on the good. The goodness is nice, but the darkness threatens that goodness. And so, as an enemy of darkness, I keep my friend (NPR news, which talks primarily about the news in a hopeful and positive light) close, but I keep my enemy (the negative news, about political shenanigans and environmental disasters and social disparities) closer. When the world is a Utopian paradise and nothing ever goes wrong, THEN I can turn my attention ONLY to the good news, and bask in the wonderful implications therein.

I, too, dislike the news, though it is primarily because whatever they report will almost always be sensationalized and one-sided.

To each his own. I don't have to convince anybody here of anything.

If anyone knows about this, I would really like to know.
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. |

Sorry, natch on that.

So my project for Game Lab this semester is going really well. The head person of my major ended up being really impressed with it and invited me back to form a team next semester and continue the project during my senior year.
In a couple weeks I'll be posting the finished version of the game on here for you all to see. This will be the version that we will be building on top of next semester. @Marv: I'll try to let you know when all the Game Lab presentations are going on so you can come see.

*Freezes with various vials, one in each hand, others floating telekinetically, all being poured into a beaker.*
My experiments shouldn't cause that. The cyclone's been downgraded to a category 1 anyway and nobody I know is really concerned about it. We live in a country made entirely out of death and suffering; why would we be concerned about a category 1 cyclone when the houses are designed to withstand it? In any case, no need to worry about TheManiak or I; we live in Melbourne, where there are no such storms and very few dangerous animals; it's just a particular spider species where I live and a few snakes and spiders in the bushland. Nothing to worry about. It's BruiseViolet you should worry about, who lives in the tropics (I'm not sure what level of danger Whaliens123 is in). Ah, I now see why some people, particularly Americans, see Australians such as myself (no pun intended) as crazy; it's no reason to panic if there are less than 10 species which can kill you in your area.

I really wanted to try and apply to help you next semester, but I got caught up in my own work for my Virtual Environments class so that fell through.
