fair enough, unless you trick them to do so, or use an item. either way I was saying that I was going to recreate myself as the hero. By the way how are we going to determine the abilities for the characters will we have the basic D&D type cast system, or just randomly make up professions.
Welcome one and All to the Jesters Carnival, where the prizes are greater than your wildest dreams, but the nightmares here shall silence you before you can even scream.

..Or they won't age in the "Die of old age" or "Get weak and feeble with age" sense.
Most of them could show age superficially or just look young. Their gods, it's not like they can't look anyway they like. -------------- As for heroes, I think that maybe putting a class as a way of knowing how your character goes about doing things.. A knight might wear heavy armor and just charge, while a thief might sneak around and stab you in the back. Meh.. I wonder whether or not we should put magic..

@Jester: Just make up stuff. And you can't put Jester as both hero and immortal.
@Zale: I think magic would be possible.

Then, how would we do magic in this setting?
Where would the power come from? What are its limits? Are there different types of magic or ways it can be used? Any ideas?

Well, technically, the magic could come from either the Omni, one of the gods/goddesses (perhaps whoever your patron god/goddess is, instead of having like, a god of magic or something)
Its limits could be restricted to manipulating/perceiving/interacting with their patron deity's element (a devout follower of Uburra-Namall would use her powers for seduction, to change her appearance, cast fantasy illusions, communicating with and/or summoning/controlling that deity's symbolic animals, etc.) And of course, the magic would be limited to the domain of the deity providing the power.

Hmm..
In which case, what would be the difference between a cleric of that god and a magic user?

The clerics would also be able to communicate with that god. And perhaps receive "divine" inspiration by them. And maybe do some things that a simple magic user could not (WHAT in particular that they could do would be up to the person designing that deity...)

That could work.
I like it then, let's do that.
“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

Ideas built on that...
Clerics/Priests etc.. have more of a connection with their deity, and they can use more power than a mage and use it with more ease. However, they can only use magic from their god and no others. Mages can use power from multiple gods, as long as they know the appropriate spell, and if the spell is within their personal power to cast. Unfortunately, their lack of devotion means they have to work more to get use and get power. How's that?

Thanks. By the way do we still have the same rules about divine motes and gaining points for stats? I am hoping the GM wont have to review our every action, that would take way too long.

Nope. No motes. The stats are there more to show how an immortal uses power, than determining what they can and can't do.

YEAH, I know. They kinda have minor power in each, uh, aspect/domain...basically, they dabble in a bit of everything.

Dabblers?
So, once everyone is happy with their immortals and the various people we have, we'll be able to start.
