That.. is an awesome idea.

Very fitting too.

I am apparently making a Dwarf Cleric for that game now.

The crazy optimizer said so.

You should switch to 4.0

It is much easier to use in my opinion
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

I just wanted to share how terrible of a product for a roleplaying game this is:

Dungeons and Warcaft
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

It.. mixes Warcraft, Card Games and DnD?

Anyway, I found this D&D sourcebook called "Oriental Adventures".

Plenty of Samurai.

There's also an interesting Player Race, the Hengeyokai. They're shapeshifting animals.

Did you look over the whole page? The cards ruin any aspects of roleplaying.

Instead of rolling dice to add randomness to the adventure, you play the card that has the desired outcome for you. You can even put only cards of perfect 20 roles if you have the money so that you can never fail.

They even have decks for emotion and direction. One forces your character to suddenly act a certain way without your decision and the last one chooses where you go in the adventure for you.

It removes any aspect of you getting to decide how you roleplay.

That sounds like the Drama Card concept, except not as fun.

For those that have never heard of drama cards, they are basically cards that give the player some small measure of control over the story, usually given out on the basis of good roleplay, or if the player does something cool or impressive.

For example

You play them once, then the DM takes them and shuffles them back into the deck. They're terrible fun.

Anything else we can work on before this thing starts?

Concrete monster system?

Items that we can buy in the Markets?

Interaction with the guilds if they still exist?

Other villages/kingdoms/towns?

Fair enough, but not enough planning leads to chaos....or is it the planning....Ah got it, too much control leads to a bad Rp. And not enough leads to Chaos. Sounds about right.

Too much planning generates too much control, so too much planning makes a bad RP.

Depends on how you plan. If it's just a stock pile of scenes, characters, adventures, weapons, monsters, and dungeons then it's not that bad...but the second you have a concrete story line for each then you can't adapt and the RP loses its charm.

It's a problem I had when planning these things. Thought them out to much beforehand, like a book instead of a game. Apparently what you need to do is just create a world that won't spontaneously self destruct and then let the characters do whatever the heck they want, coming up with the consequences of their action as they go about it.

And if you stockpile to many scenes, characters, adventures, weapons, monsters, and dungeons then the plot becomes predictable and too controlled. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about.

I don't really see how it becomes predictable if the combinations of those things remain random..not trying to be confrontational, but I took the boy scout creed of being prepared to heart.

You are being confrontational and I know what I'm talking about. Too much planning makes for a bad RP, leave it at that.

Alright, but it's still good to keep a stock pile.

And I'm pretty sure we have enough stockpiled, more than enough actually. We probably won't even use some of it.

Well, DnD has a metric crap ton of adventures, monsters, weapons, classes and dungeons.

And you can easily play a different game every month for years without running out of stuff to try.

Right, but this is a different venue and as we know from experience...it’s easy for an RP to lose interest.
