Re: Interesting Mythical Beings.

Celadon's Penultimate

No, it's actually just a very cool coincidence.

It's actually a type of automaton made from the purest gold by Hephaestus in Greek mythology. They had a lovely voice beyond that of even the Sirens. And I'd imagine that (like Galatea when she was endowed with life by Aphrodite), they could mate with mortal men to produce children, even though the originals never ended up having kids that showed up in Greek myth.

They're living gold statues, basically the ancient Greek version of androids, except not superstrong, fast, etc.

As I wrote on DA: "Maidens of great beauty in Greek myth, forged and brought to life by Hephaestus. He made them from the purest gold, and as such, everything about them was golden. Their bodies, their beauty, their charm and their wit, and most of all, their voices. With voices so lovely as to be comparable to the deadly Sirens, they were sent to delight the halls of Apollo's mythical temple at Delphi."

Also, they're called Celedons (or Celedones, which means 'Charmers'), while my planet is called Celadon (which is a shade of green).

Celadon City?

I thought of it independent of Pokemon, thankyouverymuch!

Can't have those Pokemon people coming after me, you know. I'd hate to have to decimate the entire Pokemon species as Penultimate, over some small copyright infringement misunderstanding.

But, yeah, no, I actually started off thinking of various lands independently, and then I combined them all into one world, and various adjoining territories, planets and dimensions.

Anyone good with symbolism?

One of the webcomics I read is having a very symbolic and confusing chapter.

There is one thing in particular that I would like to see if anyone would care to unravel.

So, I ask you..

What do you see..

Here...

“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

 I read that strip today.

I have to say I think it could just be part of her hallucinations( Shes seen close to this before). But If you really think there is symbolism in it I'll try.

First of all there are prominent cracks on one side of the mask while the other is in darkness. Might this suggest Antimony's father finally being revealed. Apparently horrible at first but his "Mask" is starting to crack?

The main chest decoration appears to be a bit eagle like in my opinion. With a body and large wings. As far as I know people use the eagle as a sign of power and control( Zeus's eagles, eagle on the U.S. logo) and defeating evil. Maybe they look threatening but are really trying to protect them from something.

It looks threatening at first but if you think about it it seems almost like a guardian.

However this all operates on the assumption that it is a reflection( Not an actual Image) of the father.

If it were for Kat then I would notice the complexity and semi-mechanical appearance. She is very good with technology so maybe its meant to show the extent of her abilities. Or a view of another, maybe etheric, plane?

Not quite sure.

With Kat:

Remember what so many of the robots call her? An Angel.

And that does look like an angel in the biblical Fear Not sense.

Re: Anyone good with symbolism?

An astute observation.

I think your theory is indeed correct. That does look like a mechanized Sumerian angel. Plus, as based on the "code" the robots of old run on they could very well see things entirely differently. The eagle like thing on her chest could be a symbol for this. Also, this is just me rambling but only the left side of her mask it cracked. That would indicate a fractured right side, and while I don't know much about neuroscience I was under the impression that the right lobe of the brain is the more creative and artistic side. While the left is highly logical and scientific/mathematically oriented. Kat was shown disassembling mechanical systems in her mind, and isn't she right handed. If that were the case she would be very logical and less creative/feelings oriented. Therefore I conclude this shows her fractured dis-balance in thought. She rejects the in-explainable ether and focuses on logical things. Maybe this is part of the supposed distancing between her and Antimony. She follows the courts scientific example while Antimony communes with spirits and possess an aptitude for magic, coupled with her fire elemental ancestry she and Kat are virtually opposites.

A few forums I read with threads devoted to this webcomic have made some theories.

Mostly that Kat somehow made the Tic-Toc Birds.

With Time Travel factoring in there somehow.

I like the theory.

I always thought that they were made by the same man who made the robots.

Oh wow. I suppose it is Kat then. Seems to be the most logical answer. By the way, nice new avatar.
