Re: Domain Game Quest

"What is that thing?" You ask as quietly as you possibly can. Armand picks it up.

"The Big one is a Boss Creep. They spawn in bases and dungeons like this, and act as the last line of defense. They're worth about as much as a player."

Amanda fields this one.

"Could be fodder, could be a badass, hard to tell with these guys. But he would be a whole lot easier without the other ones. Doesn't matter how strong they all are, 7 on 3 favors the 7, if only because they can afford to screw up more. Still, if we can take the little ones out quick, the big guy should be no problem."

"We could make it 7 on 4, if I go get the chest open, but whoever comes out might not be to useful right away." Armand says.

"By the way, what do you mean about being worth as much as a player?"

"Bosses drop orbs, just like players do." he responds.

"What if I hit it with this." you say, holding up the iron crowbar.

"I guess that would work, sure." says Armand.
"It'd be better than hitting them with your book. At least at it's current level." says Amanda

Re: Domain Game Quest

Gentleman Vaultboy
You charge out of the flickering shadows,  holding the crowbar above your head. The Creeps stop their chant abruptly, and turn from the fire to face you. But not before the bar arcs downward and buries itself in the head of the nearest Creep. You follow through, and the creature is thrown to the ground sans part of it's head. The others begin to advance, arms raised and menacing claws at the forefront, hissing like old women and mumbling to themselves. You can't tell what they are saying, but you know that it is something Absolutely Profane. But it stops as they are all thrown back by a sudden gust of wind throws them all back as Amanda runs u[ beside you, grin plastered on her face. She point a challenging finger at the big guy.

"C'mon, if you think your hard enough!"

The Boss accept this challenge, and lets out a sound like nail on a chalkboard if it were lowered a few decibels. The Monks begin picking themselves up including, to your horror, the one that you brained.

"Where's Armand?"

"Doing what he does best. Just give him an opportunity."

The monks, besides the one you hit, are all on their feet now, baring fangs and claws against you.

STRIFE!

Arthur, Scholar of Words
Amanda, Witch of Wind
Armand, Rogue of Void

-Vs.-

Evil Monk x 6
Master Monk

New word gained:

Hard: Hardens target against attacks. One charge.

(The master is currently standing on a raised stage behind the monks. The monks stand in a cluster behind the fire pit. On the other side of the fire pit stands you and Amanda, along with the monk you brained who's still trying to remember how it's legs work. Armand is hiding in the shadows. The chest is behind the Master.)

Re: Domain Game Quest

Gentleman Vaultboy
Amanda Lets out her yo-yo and twirls it, then releases a gust straight into the fire pit. The Burning wood flies into the air, casing the shadows to go crazy. The embers hit the five standing behind the bonfire, and their dry skin catches as easily as paper. They scream, oblivious to the pain, and charge you. But you already have your book open, and decide it's time to invoke your first word.

It forces itself up your throat like a bullet being loaded into a cylinder. You feel it lock in place behind your lips, a crackling feeling of power dancing in your mouth, like a sour candy. You almost don't want to let it out, but you do.

"TRAITOR!" and you feel the word rush over the monks like a title wave, leaving faint trails where it had sliced apart reality and reworked it into something new. As one, the monks stop. And, as one, they turn and throw their flaming bodies at the master, gripping him and letting their blazing pox spread to him. The inferno that is the master is now the only source of light in the room. It lets out is chalkboard roar and leaps down from the stage, swinging it's hammer with mad abandon.

Amanda runs, and you start to follow until you feel something wrap around you and smell a smell of old cloth and scrolls. The monk had gotten it's faculties back, and now gripped you in place while it's master ravaged forward.

It's got a grip like a vice, it's claws are digging into your arms, and you're sure that the only reason it hasn't torn your throat out with it's teeth is because you managed to break it's jaw. You aren't going to be wiggling out of this things grip, at least not by yourself.

Re: Domain Game Quest

Gentleman Vaultboy
You struggle in vain against the claws, but to no avail as the master raises it's hammer. You turn away in the face of the heat.

And see one of the arms holding you get sliced clean off as Armand materializes out of the ether. He reaches out and pulls you back just as the hammer comes crashing down. The two of you fall away as the wounded monk crushed neath the hammer. The handle, weakened from the flames, shatters from the impact. Armand pulls you to your feet as the master begins to run at you. You both dodge out of the way, flames licking at you heels, but the boss doesn't come after you. It keeps on going, crashing through the gates of the temple and tearing a hole in the framework. It stumbles, and pitches itself into the river, disappearing with a load *HISSSSSSSSSS*

You all hold your breaths, but the master does not re-emerge from the water. Light steams in from the shattered doorway, and the pervading sense of dread that has followed you since the kitchen seems to have dissipated.

You relax a little, and look at Armand as Amanda comes running up.

"Thanks Armand. If you..."

"Don't you say a thing. What are friends for, huh?"

The chest sits beneath the ceremonial bell. Beckoning.

"Armand, is that chest booby trapped."

Armand makes his way over to the chest and gives it a once over.

"Doesn't look like it."

You and Amanda make your way onto the stage. You all stare at it for a while before Amanda clears her throat and points to it. You take the hint, bend down, and open it up. At that moment the world goes white and theirs a sound like a reversed sneeze. When you can see again, your looking at a boy.

He's very tan, and calling his long blond hair a mane wouldn't be totally inaccurate. He extends his hand, and you realize that you've fallen on you backside.

"Now you know how I felt." chuckled Armand.

You take his hand, and as he pulls you to your feet he begins to speak.
"Hello, New Freind, how has your day been today! Mine's been strange!"
He has a firm grip, and a boisterous voice. He looks around, "Alright, who's who? I've got messages!"

You all introduce yourselves, and he smiles.

"Awesome! I'm Peter Soloman, Arthur. Nice to meet you, commander!"

"Commander?" Amanda says skeptically.
"Yep! That's what she said. By the way," he says, turning to her, "she says she fine, and that you shouldn't worry so much. Also, she sorry she didn't send a message with Arthur." Her eyes widen, and she looks around. "Also," he said to Armand, "she says that you've been doing a fantastic job."

You're all a little shocked, from both the implications and the force of Peters personality. Armand decides to confirm.

"You mean, Marion can see us."
"Well, that's what she told me."

Amanda suddenly regains her senses. "Hold on, we can talk about this later, when we're safe in the cave. Peter, you know the score, right?"

"Marion told me the basics."

"Good, we'll fill you in when we get back. C'mon, lets grab anything we want from that shed and get out of here?"

Re: Domain Game Quest

Gentleman Vaultboy
"How much can you carry?" She asks Peter as they decent the stairs.
"Oh, I don't know." He says with a shrug, "What do we need to carry?"
"A pair of boats."

"Your seriously going through with that?" You ask, bewildered.

She turns around and puts her hands on her hips as you all reach the bottom, "No offense, Arthur, but I an not sharing my sleeping bag with you or golden boy."

You all make your way into the shed and pile supplies into a pair of boats. Some tools, some bedding, you even mange to find some good pillows. You carry them out, Arman and Amanda carrying one, you a peter on the other. You're struggling slightly, but Peter seems to be doing it effortlessly. The boy is strong.

But as you carry your load past the river, you hear a sudden rush of water and a familiar roar as the Master rise from the river. It looks horrible. Where it's skin isn't gone, its charred. Where it's not charred, it's melted, and you can see, you your horror, that the monks, or at least parts of them, are still alive and writhing and screaming their high screams, fused by the heat to their masters body. It raises one of it's arms, it's only good one by the look of it, and brings it slicing down like a guillotine.

It's then that you hear a *Donk* as peter drops his side of the boat. He looks worried, then his face becomes a mask of determination. He says something, under his breath. You can hear it.

"Ace In The Hole!"
Henshin

There is almost an audible crackle as peter is suddenly filled with energy that wasn't there before. He rushes forward, faster then you can follow, faster than the creatures attack, and levees a punch into the creatures hide. This doesn't stop it, Nor dose the second punch, nor the third, or the forth, But peter is getting faster now, much faster, and his arms take on an ghostly quality as you begin counting the more than one arm at a time. By what you count as punch number 60 the creature stops it's attack and lets out a cry of pain, by 120 there is a sizable dent in the creatures abdomen, and still perter does not relent, attacks falling like raindrops, with a sound to match. At last there is one dreadful moment where he seems to have 100 arms at once, and they all slam home at once.

The masters chest explodes out of its back. It can't even scream as it fall over back into the rushing river. Peter falls to his knees, panting heavily, knuckles bleeding. You all can only stare at him as an orb rises out of the water and places itself on the shore.

The whole affair had taken barley five seconds.

New Word Discovered:
Hole: Creates a hole. One charge

VICTORY!
