Well, he was using Parseltongue. So to those who don't understand the hissing it's not really speaking.

Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

I'll do one better. Have you ever heard of Universe 25?

The Cracked article that introduced me to it wrote
Listen, whether you buy the validity of his results or not, the fact is this: Calhoun built tiny little universes all his life, just to see where ours was headed. And when he'd gazed in that crystal ball long enough, he pulled his eyes away, rubbed at the bridge of his nose and carefully jotted down the words "death squared" in his little notebook.
Hey son, wanna' learn how ta' make witch balls?

Perhaps why we need dystopian chaos before we have the CHANCE to reach a utopian state of that kind. Which further proves to me that everything, even misfortune, plagues and destruction has a purpose in the mortal realm.

Thank you.

I...I actually don't want an explanation for this.

None, I think, would be adequate.

There's a deceptively still body of water in Tanzania with a deadly secret—it turns any animal it touches to stone. The rare phenomenon is caused by the chemical makeup of the lake, but the petrified creatures it leaves behind are straight out of a horror film.

Re: Creepy Awesomeness...

Please forgive me, chums, if this post is ill-placed, but I've recently acquired a taste for the creepy-themed horror genre.  I've just finished the film "Sinister" and found myself titillated with the unexpected shiver that ran down my spine.   I've never considered myself as a connoisseur of slasher horror flicks, but I can't deny my recent crescendo of desire to see a well-filmed piece that provokes suspense.  Are there any other morsels of this kind that someone might recommend?

P.S.  I don't really care for the "jump out" or massively gory pictures.  I've only recently realized I like to be creeped out, rather than overwhelmed with fake blood and guts. Also, no shark-themed flicks.

Yes, Sinister was a good one, for sure. Did not see much of that movie coming at all.

Personally, I thought another delight was The Rite (2011) with Anthony Hopkins. Dunno if you've seen it, but it is certainly one of the better exorcism movies. I'd recommend that, before giving any other exorcism movie any consideration at all. Especially, if you're fairly well-versed in the workings of the supernatural, according to Christianity.

Though, if you're not in the mood for that (I know a lot of people have given up on exorcism movies, dismissing them as all being the same), I thought Slender Man (2013) was surprisingly good. More suspense than horror, despite the categorization it claims.

Case 39 (2009), also, is a pretty fun. It's a few years old, but worth a look, for sure. Unexpected and interesting, and will definitely keep you guessing. Not so much violence, as just messing with your mind. Hard decisions have to be made, and things are not what they seem. Basically, would you trust your judgment in this given situation. And, more importantly, what happens when your judgment turns out to be very, very wrong?

Also, Curse of Chucky (2013) really redeemed itself from its cruddy horror-comedy predecessors Bride and Seed of Chucky. Some deeper insight into the kind of person Chucky is (which I thought was impossible to do), but along with the violence (nothing too gory), it genuinely is creepy...even more so than usual. The ending will creep you out, but probably also make you smile.

Plus, while more on the graphic side--disturbing, in fact--I really liked The Collector (2009) and its successor The Collection (2012), and I thought they each managed not just to be violent and frightening, but also genuinely creepy, as they hold you in suspense, and you have absolutely no idea how things will turn out. Capable of making me jump, which I'd like to think is no easy task.

More on the suspense side, is The Purge (2013). A psychological horror, really, more than any actual violence that takes place. I mean, it takes place, but it's not prevalent. The real stuff that gets you is how they mess with your head. Still, overall, it's closer to suspense than true horror, if you ask me.

Then there's Cabin in the Woods (2012). I recommend that to a genuine thinker. It's scary at crucial points that horror movie criteria would require, but in many places, it's not just creepy, but plain-out witty. The plot is nowhere near what you expect when you first start watching. Awesome piece of work, to anybody who cares for something beyond the average.

And I certainly couldn't forget Evil Dead (2013). It mixed demonic possession with disturbing violence, drug abuse and feelings of utter helplessness, and really had me worried about how things would turn out. Still, the violence left me with less of a grossed out feeling, and more of a genuine pity for anyone who would ever have to go through such a fate. It really creeped me out, scared me, kept me guessing and stayed with me a good while after I saw it.

Then, with honorable mention (the others weren't in any particular order, but this certainly gets honorable mention) would be Final Destination 5 (2011). It was sort of expected how things would go, but this one really brought back the charm of the first one, I thought. Some very unexpected deaths, nothing particularly bloody, but definitely make you take another look at what otherwise would be considered everyday and ordinary. Plus, it ties quite a neat little bow on the series.

For non-movies, try the SCP foundation.

I watched Paranormal Activity 1 recently.
A low budget horror with an invisible entity/ghost/demon terrorizing a couple.
(you never get to see it)

It was more creepy than it can be called scary.

With movies like that the scary part is actually after the movie.
When you're hoping there's no evil ghost in your bedroom.
(fortunately I don't believe in ghosts or demons)

Oh, yeah! Forgot all about those.

The Eye (alright), House of Wax (alright), Amityville Horror remake (good), The Crazies (good)...the Mist, I didn't care for.

And yeah, basically the first Wrong Turn is your best bet. The others just get progressively worse. I think they could have gone much better than they did.

Though, I did think Pulse (2006) was alright. Could have been executed better, but wasn't terrible. Plus, there's this movie 100 Feet (2008), which I thought was sort of fun. Oh, and have you seen Open Graves (2009)? That's pretty creepy, and enjoyable, I thought.

And now that I think about it, you might like the After Dark Horrorfest series. I haven't seen all of them, but I have seen:

Dark Ride (decent, but you're not missing anything if you pass it over)

The Gravedancers (pretty spooky...I liked it)

Unrest (heck yes...not top tier, but worth a look)

Wicked Little Things (meh...okay, but nothing special, from what I remember)

Crazy Eights (bleh, not even as great as Wicked Little Things...)

The Deaths of Ian Stone (interesting as it sounds...but includes a fantasy element, which may turn some folks off from calling it a horror...)

Tooth and Nail (Yes. Watch this. Watch this twice or thrice, even.)

Autopsy (Not top tier, again, but it sure makes a heck of an attempt.)

The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations (not necessary to see the first two, I don't think. I didn't, and still caught on pretty quick. And otherwise, not amazing, but creepy? Sure.)

From Within (worth a shot...you may like it, despite not being executed to the best it could have been)

Dread (Oh, my. It's a tad slow at the start, but when it picks up, it gets good, and the ending certainly lives up to the name. Gosh.)

The Final (Liked this one. Very relevant in these times, which is what makes it so creepy. It's not really THAT far off from something that could happen...)

The Reeds (Hm...could have gone much better. I think it fell short of a very interesting concept.)

And aside from the After Dark series, Stag Night (2008) was pretty decent, too. Graphic in some places, but still creepy.
