Re: Warriors of Myth

jester_of_god
since he's already a creature he wouldn't have one to begin with, for him we would probably have a talisman that would allow him to copy the other species of spirit's abilities, instead of the hybridization device, unless you prefer the latter.
Welcome one and All to the Jesters Carnival, where the prizes are greater than your wildest dreams, but the nightmares here shall silence you before you can even scream.

Hm. He'd have no need for the hybridization device.

Talisman it is. I'll add it to his list of stuff.

Meh..

If I was going to associate any of them with demons, I'd go with ifreet. They're supposed to be descended from Iblis, I think.

But, Since I know I don't believe in this and I'm sure you don't, I see no reason to argue over it.

Might I extend an apology?

No need to apologize. I did some studying up ahead, and really made him for the RP idea YOU came up with a few months back. I made him a normal djinn, because he was supposed to be the son of the King of the Djinni, Djinn Zetsuei, a character I made up to go along with the whole mythos of Celadon (his last name denotes whose son he is).

It's no biggie, really.

Now....

So what to use..

Some kind of classical elemental might be fun.

I could see you as a salamander...(the humanoid kind, not the weirdo lizard with a human head...)

Just not a gnome, PLEASE. I wouldn't be able to contain my laughter, and Dajai would be unable to hide his disdain for the short, dirty you...

Some interesting descriptions of elementals..

The air, he says, is filled with a great number of sylphs, beings
of human form, somewhat fierce in appearance, but really
of a docile nature. They are interested in the sciences and are
subtle. They are officious toward the sages and hostile toward
the foolish and the ignorant. Their wives and daughters are of
a masculine type of beauty, such as that of the Amazons.

The seas and rivers are inhabited as well as the air, and the
beings dwelling there are designated undines, or nymphs, by
the sages. The female population much exceeds the male, the
women being so exceedingly beautiful that among the daughters
of men there is none to equal them.

The Earth is filled almost to the center with gnomes, beings
of small stature that guard subterranean treasure, minerals,
and precious stones. They are ingenious, friendly toward men,
and easy to command. They provide the children of the sages
with all the money they require, asking no other reward for
their services than the glory of performing them. The gnomides,
their wives, are small of stature but very good-looking,
and they dress very curiously.

As for the salamanders, the inhabitants of the region of fire,
they serve the philosophers, but are not overanxious for their
company. Their daughters and wives are rarely seen. Their
women are very beautiful, beyond all the other elementals,
since they dwell in a purer element. Their habits, mode of life,
manners, and laws are admirable, and their mental brillance is
even greater than their physical beauty. They know and religiously
adore the Supreme Being, but have no hope of eternal
enjoyment of him, since their souls are mortal. Being composed
of the purest parts of the elements wherein they dwell,
and having no contrary qualities, they can live for several centuries,
yet they are much troubled because of their mortal nature.

Sounds like Paraclesus. But I may be wrong...

The sylphs are capricious and inconstant, but agile and active;
the undines, jealous and cold, but observant;
the salamanders, hot and hasty, but energetic and strong; and
the gnomes, greedy of gold and treasures, but nevertheless
hardworking, good-tempered, and patient.

well, the only stuff I found on djinn that I really regard as having any merit is the stuff I found on it in the Qu'ran. But...well, if ya wanna find it, look for it yourself.

#Laziness, FTW!

Wow I'm going to be lost in this RP i only know about half of the things mentioned and will probably be to lazy to look them all up.
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Which do you choose? Hmmm?

Sylphs- can turn into air, and control air (including heightening speed), and perceive the flow of the wind

Undines- can turn into water, can control water, can perceive the presence of water and have this funky ability to take the breath away, just like the water itself

Salamanders- duh, turn into fire, resist the heat of fire, control fire and cause flammable things to burst into flame

Gnomes- can tunnel into the earth, can design ingenious crafts and jewelry (and are good at prospecting minerals) and can withstand stuffy underground conditions (and in some incarnations, are slightly stronger than people)

I checked The Encyclopedia of Occultism And Parapsychology.

I like to browse it. Mostly because some of the things make me laugh a bit.

The kinds of divinations mostly.

Tyromancy (or Tiromancy)
An old form of divination based on interpretations from
cheese. Unfortunately, the method does not appear to have
been recorded.
“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

yeah, divination has some STRANGE variations...

lumpology

physiognomy

gyromancy

cold reading

hot reading

just to name a few off the top of my head...

Tephramancy
A mode of divination in which sacrificed victims from a fire
are used.

Tasseography
A formal term for the branch of fortune-telling of divination
by tea leaves.

Stolisomancy
Divination from the manner in which a person dresses. In
ancient Rome the emperor Augustus believed that a military
revolt was predicted on the morning of its occurrence when his
attendant buckled his right sandal to his left foot.

Stoicheomancy
A method of divination that is practiced by opening the
works of Homer or Virgil and reading as an oracular statement
the first verse that presents itself. It is regarded as a form of
rhapsodomancy.

The funny part is how SERIOUS the book seems when It lists them.

I'm pondering making an aqautic-ish one.

That could be interesting.

Or maybe just a salamander...

What, they can't be serious about their occultism? Occultists have feelings, too, lol

Oh, yeah, forgot they actually took that "Hail, muse!" thing seriously.

BTW: Sorry, I had to take out the trash (and we got one of those REALLY big trash cans). I forgot the combination for the gate, so I had to leave the gate closed and take the crap out by hand...
