“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

...Take sentient golem then.

It entitles control over earth, reconstruction and seperation of peices, great durability, strength, and an innate knowledge of runes.

Paracelsus uses Gnomi as a synonym of Pygmæi,[3] and classifies them as earth elementals. He describes them as two spans high, very reluctant to interact with humans, and able to move through solid earth as easily as humans move through air.[4][5]

This would include most building materials.

Possibly metal, as well, depending on Jester's ruling.

Except wood.

Iron no, copper maybe. Metals most likely no, or the harder stones and crystals would take more effort, like a human swimming I suppose.

There also appears to be something about Vibratory Rate. Perhaps it measures the movement of atoms within their bodies?

Gnomes have the lowest of the the Elementals. Sylphs have the highest..

So I guess a Sylph could phase through things..

Indeed.

The denser the object, the higher the vibratory rate it would take to get through it. Which is why iron is effective in warding things out. but diamond is better...except against light enemies. then it's still iron, or steel.

Depends.

I'd say that any combination that occurs naturally should be possible.

Maybe not Iron or any of the metals that tend to combine easily, but others that remain pure even normally?

Of course, artificial alloys would be impassible.  And wood.

Yeah, but iron is commonly used to ward off faeh due to it's properties anyway. From that logic Alluminum should also be nigh impenetrable in that case.
