I would suggest starting with initial forms so that way you have a way to build up your pokemon stronger by evolving them.

@Spydyr: Yes, final forms are okay. Probably best to not use all evolved forms, or put some limit on it, though (maybe your Pokemon doesn't like you, or is really stubborn) so your power doesn't get Mary-Sue-ified. I have to do the same for my own lineup, because if I don't watch out, I tend to go for the biggest, baddest, meanest ones I can find.

Hm...well:

Rayquaza is out of the question (as is anything out of the 5th gen, even though the bird Pokemon Braviary looks really cool)

that leaves you with Charizard, Salamence, Dragonite and plenty of others...

It's nice; well-rounded, like I tried to do. I'm glad nobody so far is a fan of only one type. That could get bothersome, and easy to counter.
