Well there IS the shapeshifter fight trope on tv tropes. And Jester said ace would let you easily act in higher areas of the universe. Plus I would be effectively immortal. I could have an array of bodies at my choice and I could send spirits through the astral real to travel time and space. I couldalso just absorb knowledge(Not steal) from souls of the dead so I could learn almost every subject within the passing of a day and be good at them to.

Yeah, he's very obviously afraid of/in opposition to death and any influence outside of himself that could potentially render him out of control of his own life/destiny.

Not that he dislikes control. He just dislikes being the one not to have it.

What? You people are oh so busy trying to safely use time, space, or energy/matter manipulation while I already have the souls of millions in my hand. In the past, present, and multiple futures. Time and space are much more easily crossed by souls so those I control can operate in multiple times and places. I don't have to even make them obey me, just love and adore me. I could also duplicate a piece of my soul and put it into people so that I can transfer to and take control of them or just live if I'm destroyed.
