The Kethencian College of Magic RP (Part 3)

[Marvelous Miscreant]

The headmaster raised an eyebrow and began to pour three drinks from a pitcher on his desk.

"Oh, is that so?"

The headmaster finished pour the drinks, a strange bubbling amber liquid filled each cup.

"Care for a drink?"

[Gentleman Vaultboy]

"Thankyou," Billy says, before taking a glass and downing all the liquid in one go.

"Ahhh" he his, wiping his mouth and looking at the others. "I've been, well, I've been running a lot today," He says sheepishly.

[Marvelous Miscreant]

"Well, you can relax here. We've got nothing but time." The headmaster sips his drink nonchalantly.

[Philote]

Zauber takes a taste of the liquid. "You brought us down for drinks?"

[Marvelous Miscreant]

"Oh of course not. I've got something for you two." The headmaster draws two wooden boxes from his sleeve. They don't appear to have an opening or and kind of latch. Lines were cut into the sides, forming complex patterns.

The headmaster placed the two boxes on the table.

[Gentleman Vaultboy]

"Puzzle-boxes?" asks Billy, curiously picking up one of the boxes and turning it all over in his hands, looking it over.

[Marvelous Miscreant]

"I thought they would be fun.....and useful." The headmaster says with a wink.

[Philote]

"Why are you giving these to us?" Zauber asks as he traces his finger across the carvings on his box.

[Marvelous Miscreant]

"I promised you a reward didn't I? Besides, I have a feeling you'll be needing these soon. Now, while we're here is there anything you boys would like to tell me? I'm all ears."

[Gentleman Vaultboy]

Billy looks up from the box, and recounts everything he had learned from the bodies during his class to the assembled.

"All of them seem to have happened in the village. A warning has to be sent out, or something. Is anything being done?"

[Marvelous Miscreant]

The headmaster takes it all in with a smile. He nods as Billy recounts the information.

"No, we've not sent any message to the town. That would only cause a panic. The truth is we don't know what's going on down there, but we are doing something about it. I've got a team working on the problem. But you shouldn't fret about it. I sincerely doubt that...it....is the cause."

[Gentleman Vaultboy]

Right, of course he was handling it. It would be stupid to assume otherwise. Causing a panic wouldn't help anyone.

He tried not to think about what he had told James as he asked his next question.

"Has Professor Karth discovered what type of spell was used to manufacture the spiders, sir?"

[Marvelous Miscreant]

"Oh....that reminds me." The Headmaster snaps and a spark ignites between his fingers before quickly blooming into a blue fire. The fire forms a small square and just as quickly as it came, it is snuffed out. In its place between the headmaster's finger was a scrap of parchment.

"He wanted me to give this to you."

[Gentleman Vaultboy]

Billy takes the parchment and reads it intently.

[Philote]

Zauber listens intently, this was new information to him as well. The puzzle box rotates in Zauber's hands to keep him busy with discovering its use while the headmaster and Billy talk. He watches Billy take the letter and eventually his curiosity takes over and he asks "Well, what does it say Billy?"

[Gentleman Vaultboy]

"Well..."

(What does it say?)

[Marvelous Miscreant]

The scroll reads...

"The magic was analyzed to contain dark magic of the transmogrification variety as well as blood magic. The sample was too small to glen any other information. Though if another sample was collected, a tracking spell could be preformed to find the source."

[Philote]

"How would we go about getting another sample without putting ourselves in danger?" Zauber asks.

[Gentleman Vaultboy]

"I have another sample." Billy says. "One last spider body. I was planning to use it as an undead, but I'll gladly give it up for the sake of finding the enemy."

[Marvelous Miscreant]

The Headmaster, who was now leaning back in his chair with his feet on the table, cut in.

"Oh, I may have neglected to mention that Professor Karth is on leave at the moment. He's.....helping out in the city."
