"I've already been to class today." he says to the door. He was talking to a door, that was so cool!
"I need to get outside. My friend here hasn't seen his family for a long time, Mr. Door, and they are probably out there."

The door thinks for a moment then launches into what is clearly a rehearsed speech. "All students are to remain in the school until such a time that.....that......um.......oh, nevermind. What do I care if you leave?"
The door swings open. "Just be back before dark."

Billy walks outside, Gob at his heels. "Thank you Mr. Door, I won''t tell anyone about this, I swear."
So, outside. What was outside. He was so excited. (What does he see outside?)

Outside the door stretched the courtyard where the students had gathered when they first arrived. Beyond that was a gravel road that rolled down into the town.

Billy and Gob run out onto the gravel road and down it into the town itself.
(This is important: Can Billy see any walls surrounding him?)

Asoka shrugs, "It can't be that bad. Piper should have a finite amount of money to spend."

"Well, I suppose we have to search through the places anyways" Zauber says as he resigns himself to following them around.

As Billy and Gob traveled down the path they came to a large hill just before the city. The path took them to the very top. From there they could see the entire city spread out before them, stretching endlessly into the distance. Beyond that was untamed wilderness that blended into the horizon.

"LET"S GO! THE SHOPS AWAIT!" Piper exclaims cheerily as she grabs Zauber and Asoka by the arms and pulls them down the street, fulled with unbridled enthusiasm.

Gob turned around to find that Billy had frozen at the crest of the hill, staring out into the distance. Before him was the city, but beyond that was the woods, and beyond that was the edge of something else before it vanished.
Of course, Billy had heard of this. His mother had told him of it's beauty often. Soldiers stationed on the walls spoke of it in hushed tones, and worried that it might suck them away. It had a pull on the mind. Many left the city under cover of darkness, never to return once they had eyed it. Others it had pulled more directly: it wasn't unusual to lose 2 or 3 people a year over the side, trying to reach it. The Horizon! The moving edge of the world! The mark of more land than a human could possibly see! You couldn't see it from the Kingdom. The great wall, the necessary great wall, was always visible in the distance and divided heaven and earth like a bed-sheet between lovers. You couldn't travel outside those mighty walls; to do so was to invite certain death if the other nations found out where you were from. You could only sit inside, trapped, while outside a whole world went on without you. But here, for the first time, there was no wall. Billy had never even considered that it wouldn't be. The wall was there, it always was and always had been. But this, this was the whole of creation stretched out, naked before his eyes. He regarded it the way the groom regards his blushing bride truly for the first time on their wedding night: With wonder, slight fear, true love, and unfathomable desire. "I could go anywhere." he said under his breath, barely above a whisper. "Billy!..Come!" Gob's voice pulled him back into his own head, and he could feel himself trembling slightly. He pulled his eyes away from the distance, and turned them on Gob. "Right, of course, we have something, y'know, that we were doing. Yes, right! Come on then." Billy said, nearly sprinting past Gob down into the city, the little creature scurrying to catch up to him. Billy kept his eyes on the road the whole way into town. It was beautiful, yes. But it had almost pulled him over the side.

(For both groups)
The city was a live with energy and activity. Hundreds upon hundreds of different species and races mingled in the streets creating a mob of strange skin tones and crazy appendages. So many different voices overlapped. The noise was constant and very loud. The Shopkeepers added to the din and activity as they stood outside their shops and tents shouting to the passing people about their wares. There were blacksmiths, silversmiths, alchemists, tinkerers, inventors, armories, discount shops, novelty shops, book stores, craft stores, clothing shops, Pet stores, music emporiums, and even trading stalls. The city had shops for everything. And this was just the trade district....

The Markets were also am entirely new experience. The Kingdom had nothing like this, had no outgoing trade and hardly any incoming. But here, everyone was selling everything. And it had an exited energy about it as people haggled and cultures clashed, so different from the formal, homogeneous shopping districts he was familiar with.
Slowly but surely, Billy Bishop was falling in love. He looked to Gob. "So, where do we start? Do you think you can find where your home?"

Zauber steered the group inside a store. If he was going to have to follow Piper as she shopped, he would at least try to keep her within some of the interesting shops.
They passed by different shelves lined with figurines, each one promising some magical affect from their ownership.

The baker was the first thing that could be seen in the shop. He was a huge hulking man with large thick arms. He looked comical in his small dainty apron. His was focused on kneading a large lump of dough with his thick hands. He paused for a moment to glance up at the new customers in his shop, then went back to kneading the dough.
"Somethin' I can help ya with boys?"

Piper was ecstatic as she flitted from shelf to shelf marveling at every shiny object and glittering item. Many of the items she removed from the shelf to purchase for herself.
"Isn't this fun Zauber?"

"Yes sir," Billy said, walking up to the counter, "I was looking for some people who might have lived around here at some point. They would look like him." He indicates Gob.
He supposed it was rude to come in just to ask something. He pulled his money purse out of the folds of his robe, and pointed to the rolls. "And some of those honey rolls."

"I reckon I've probably seen one of dem phagophobites runnin' about 'round here." The baker remarks with a curious smile on his face. He turns to the door beg=hind the counter and calls out.
"Mush, get in here. Wrap up a couple 'o dem honey rolls for our customer!" The sound of footsteps is heard as someone approaches the door. As it swings open, a young Phagophobite like Gob wearing a white apron is revealed. He began to pulls a few honey rolls out from the counter and place them on a sheave of white butcher paper.
