"I think now we are, Mr. Ashgrove." Billy says, entering the room. "Hello, everyone. Thank you for taking the time and risk to do something like this! This request comes from the Headmaster himself, so it must be important. Mr. Ashgrove, what is that for?" Billy indicates the wick in Eric's hand.

Billy gives a little shout and grips the burning wick twain his fingers. It goes out, and Billy begins trying to shake the pain out of his hand. Finally, thumb in mouth, he says. "Maybe that should wait, Mr. Ashgrove, until I've explained what we are doing, huh?"

Billy moves to the center of the room.

"I've been to see an oracle, and she agreed to divine the nature of the forbidden sections defenses. By the way, if you ever need anything divined, I suggest Samantha Oddak. Anyway, what we are up against is..."

Billy explains to the others what Samantha told him.

There are several things you must get past. The first are two Suits of armor that act as guardians. Answer their question to proceed. Next there are several floating lanterns drifting amongst the books. Do NOT enter their light or you will be caught. Finally do not step on any stone that is marked with a symbol. They are pressure plates.

"Now, she said she could only see a little ways in and couldn't see everything. So I'm hoping that the book we have to find is only a little ways in. If we have to go any further, we're going blind. If you want to back out, I won't think any less of you, bit I can't just let an attack go ignored."

Billy steals out the door first, head for the library. He's trying his best to be "Stealthy," which apparently includes a number of unnecessary tumbles.

"We probably all shouldn't leave together, I'll follow after Billy, you guys come behind us in small groups once we get a head start."

I follow Billy out, walking as if I was returning to my dorm.
