In the story Zeus and the others can change between their Greek and Rome personalities and appearances. Instead of just the Greek from the first series.
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

 Um...that's not terrible, I suppose.

There are slight differences.

The Roman versions tend to be more formal and militaristic.

And Juno is slightly less vindictive than Hera.

Yeah, they just came off less interesting to me. The Romans had much less...colorful...views of the gods.

The Greeks had no problem with their gods being sexually promiscuous, flamboyantly vindictive and just otherwise incredibly entertaining.

The Romans regarded them as strictly religious. What a bore. I couldn't imagine if worshiping Jesus was just a CHORE.

Yeah.

The differences bleed into the demigod children, which makes the Roman and Greek not get along very well.

To prevent this, the gods forcibly separated them, and made sure they would never find out.

The second series pretty much shoots this idea to death. Which is a source of plot! :D

Hm...perhaps it's an interesting idea, after all... I shall look into it.

What's that series called?

The first one is Percy Jackson & The Olympians.

The second one is Heroes of Olympus.

You don't really have to read the first one, since the second one uses new main characters.

Yeah, I know, but I wanted to read both. Yes, I shall collect both series, and both of them shall collect DUST!

Indeed, the circle of collection will go on.

Mostly, because you know enough about mythology to fill in the gaps.

Though some of it still may be a bit confusing if you skip around.

Yeah, I'll likely read Percy Jackson first...

Did I mention that one of the characters, Annabeth is a daughter of Athena?

I'm sure you're sputtering about how that works now, aren't you?

Welllll, it seems that children of Athena get born in a similar way to how she was born.

Basically, Athena and some smart mortal put their minds together and a child poofs out of nowhere. It's not really touched on, mostly because the one explaining it is Annabeth and she asks if Percy (Who had to ask) reallly wants to know the details of how she was born. He declines, not surprisingly.

I was poking around wikipedia and found the page for the goddess Ishtar.

She was the goddess of love and war..

And rather frightening.

In one myth, She approached the gate to the underworld and said..

If thou openest not the gate to let me enter,
I will break the door, I will wrench the lock,
I will smash the door-posts, I will force the doors.
I will bring up the dead to eat the living.
And the dead will outnumber the living.

I'd imagine that kind of threat would get you into anywhere.

And guess what? She was supposed to be the archetype for Ashtarte, who was the archetype for Aphrodite...

And Isthar's sumerian counterpart, Inanna apparently attacked a mountain because it refused to recognize her superiority..

Also, Aphrodite is scary...

Goddesses are simply more frightening than their male counterparts...

Something interesting I read about the Aurora Borealis. It was a rather outdated and somewhat inaccurate book, that described the Aurora as being Merry Dancers- Outcast angels that danced across the sky.

Which brought to mind another book I read in which Elves were outcast angels... Basically, it said that the elves had been one third of the angelic host that abstained from fighting, because they felt it was beneath them or some nonsense.

Because of this, they got kicked out of heaven... but they hadn't been bad enough to be bunched in with the demons.

There was also another thing, a philosophical book that mentioned angels. It delt with the old question of how many angels could fit on the head of a pin. It said that an angel travels by merely wishing to be in some place. They occupied that place, so to speak, because they wished to be there. However, other angels could not be in the exact same spot as they could because their wishes would conflict..

You see what happens If I get deprived of internet? Things I've read start to swish around my head in lack of further imput...

 Shame, shame...

Books are good, but informational books can be killer; full of a lot of info that makes you think too much.

Oh, well. At least you haven't gotten yourself into propaganda and "Mein Kampf".
