I don't know about the rest of you, but music is an integral part of my life. It helps define who I am and my view of myself.
Hopefully, themes for each character/place--or tracks containing those themes--will help define and solidify the story. Instrumental songs are preferred, but songs with a vocalist are perfectly fine too.
The creator of the character/place gets the last word on their character/place's song. Only fair.
“…Judge not what a man has done, but judge what he could have done if he was a different bloke altogether. For art thou a leper? And a leper can changeth his spots…” --Rudy Wade, Misfits (Series 4, Episode 8)
“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

I actually stumbled upon Voltaire by accident when he made a guest appearance on a live Friday the 13th event on a web game I play. What I love about him is that he has a lot of songs that can just be enjoyed for the music (Bomb New Jersey, Beast of Pirate's Bay, Brains, When You're Evil) and some that have really deep meanings (Robber Baron, God Thinks, Feathery Wings, Almost Human).
All hail the king of dunces! You best hold on, I'm opening up my mouth.
Fitz Tanner's theme: Kryptonite by Three Doors Down
Fitz often feels weak and helpless (despite the capabilities of his power); but even though he feels like he's pretty useless, he'll still try to help others to the best of his ability
Secondary theme: Superhero Song by Drake Bell
This song is very like him...not really heroic, but it'll do in a pinch...
Fighting theme: Blackout (Techno Song)
Seems enough of an upbeat song to be a battle scene, but lax enough to be HIS battle scene
