You see, Library got a bunch of new books recently, and I (Being the total bookworm that I am) began to read as many of them as humanly possible.

I've gone through all the books that I know would be good, the ones that might be good... and now I'm down to the dregs....

Those being the paranormal romance type books.  


Not that all of them are totally horrible, but most of them are a bit to.. mushy for me.




In this one, the main character is all whiny and angst-ish. She ends up in a new high school, and of course on the first day someone (The basic attractive, bad boy, you-are-the-air-I-breathe romance novel guy) falls in love with her.. She acts like she likes him, then doesn't, then makes out with him, then acts like she hates him, then goes back to being hopelessly in love....

Her sister is  (Some-what justifiably) a self-centered "I just want to be normal" person who rapidly gives into peer pressure and blames her sister for various things.

Her mom is (Also some-what justifiably) an over protective "I know best" type person who wants nothing more than for her daughter to give up her non-human side and be normal.


The boyfriend is pretty one dimensional, pretends to be a bad boy, and keeps using lots of mushy expressions.



There's also the near omnipresent popular girl/cheerleader leader/queen of the school cliche that is in EVERY high school setting....



Where was I? Then after that, she (Shocker.....) is found out by her boyfriend who accepts her for who she is (I think I see a pattern here).... Then they end up going to a party-deal in an attempt to protect her twin sister (The self centered one) from the creepy womanizer.

And then, The main character's obsessive former-friend-who-wants-to-be-more person shows up and throws the boyfriend off a cliff.  

Then the main character reveals her secret to the creepy dude in order to try to save her boyfriend.

He hits the ground anyway, and then the girl and her sister and the old friend have to run away before crazy hunters come to kill them.


Then the book ends.

Oh, dear, that sounds dreadful. Not quite Twilight, but...srsly, the descendants of dragons? Sounds like a terribly mushy version of American Dragon: Jake Long, without any of the other cool mythical creatures or orignal plot.

Okay, well, how about this for a GOOD story idea?

Vampires. WAIT! Before you jump on me and start pounding me with that pointy stick I see you eying, hear me out. This is not a romance. It's a thriller.

'Kay, so, here's what I've got.

It's a split perspective between the humans and the vampires. The humans are a group of normal kids. The vampires are, well, vampires. With the exception of Molly, their leader and Lucas, the one who they send to high school to give their family the appearance of normalcy.

However, in his attempts to be normal, his vampirism is discovered, their killing is discovered and the humans threaten to reveal their secret to the rest of the town, unless they stop the murders and leave town for good.

They pretend to do so, but are discovered to only be in hiding. When the humans find it out, they seek the help of a slayer, and he recruits his crew to track them and take them down. During this time, Molly discovers that an amulet she's had for centuries is actually a powerful vampire relic that allows the wearer to control blood.

Whole rigmarole, fighting, such and such. One of the slayers is eventually killed.

To avenge his death, they devise a plan to crash a party they're hosting (thinking they're victorious), where the vampires and mostly all of their allies will be present. The plan goes horribly wrong, and they only manage to pass it off because of a fluke by one of the head vampiress's minions. Cue big explosion of ultraviolet light, destroying every vampire in the mansion...except the main vampiress, and a few of her minions, who manage to escape by the skin of their, uh...fangs.

...that kind of reminds me of a combination of twilight, vanhelsing, and some movie about Irish vampires that I saw a long time ago, except their amulet granted wishes.

So, Zale, whaddya think of my novel-in-progress? It's one I've finished, and have yet to type up, but I think I did a pretty good job on it. I could tell you all the nitty-gritty details, or if I can ever get around to it with my college work, I could attempt to type it up (some of it, anyways...)

I'd really appreciate if some of you commented on it, if I did. And I think you'll like it. It's not much for romance, but it's a thriller, I think, with a tinge of horror mixed in.

Yeah, I first wrote it up in 6th grade, but went way into detail and redid it in 12th. So far, a few friends have read it, and they all liked it, but I'm kinda thinking they were just kissing my behind; so I'll probably post some of it for you all to read it (since you all can be blunt, what with me not knowing where any of you live or work...)

nope, that'd be a first, but like I say you're welcome to try. I've been under attack by a wicked King of the Djinni, a cold elemental Tundra Cryos (who also goes by "The Brumal B***h" and "The Whore of the Hoar"; she wears the Heart of Cryos, which allows the wearer to freeze anything, including time and space), Braoheihei (the personification of physical might), Gengunavia (the personification of logic and mental power), Mon (the personification of spiritual wickedness), Darkess Faye (the matron of all modern witches), The Boogeyman, MY Boogeyman Rou (who personified everything the Penultimate feared and fears), Hel Kraksul (the wicked Warmonger who is the ancestor of my friend Tyr; he was created from the essence of the fallen being Chaos himself) and the myriad of idiots in my high school (a BLACK school, mind you), so I doubt there's much you could throw at me that I haven't already seen or encountered.

Only the King of the Djinni, Djinn Zetsuei, ever managed to find out how to depose me as Penultimate, but his mind's been erased of the knowledge (and I hid the book where he found it in MY PALACE) so good luck with THAT. And even if you DID find out the one thing that could bring me to my knees, I'd never fall for it, so HA!

I never really bother writing about vampires and were wolves in any of my stories, the closest I got to a were wolf was a star wolf, and the closest I got to a vampire was a shadow man, and he was one of the main protagonists.

what? NEVER write about vampires or werewolves? Oh, my. Vampires are awesome, ESPECIALLY when put up against werewolves (which personally I like better, but still...)

He'd probably enslave all of there soles as he quickly spreads the "Fallen mask" virus across your etire planet creating an army of souless slaves out of all of its citizens as he loqly unleased demonic forces from the darkest reaches of existence, before killing the elementals that gve you your powers as your planet falls to an oncoming tide of demons. making it his base as he spreads an unholy tide of evil throughout the rest of the universe eventually causing it to fall an initiate another Armageddon allowing the monster king to come into teh galaxy at which point were all basically dead, unless we ccan get permission to start the actual end of days in order to save this universe from falling into heck.

I've had the following

Nature manipulating trolls

gnomes capable of summoning and merging with a giant golem made out of pure indestructible magic diamond.

the king and queen of all dragons and their guards.

a giant mutant combination frog and a fly that was about the size of a mountain.


A star wolf powered by a red crystal/corrupt anomaly core= Star wolves are a race of cursed beings that have control over darkness and increased physical capabilities, along with the ability to summon an army of wolves to do their bidding, at the cost of slowly transforming into a wolf hybrid, and always living under a giant cloud of darkness. Never to see the sun or stars again.

A Shadow being= capable of absorbing your spiritual energy in order to make a super powered monster to fight you whose power is equal or greater than your own.

Another shadow being= a humanoid creature that lives in the realm of shadows that has the ability to manifest your deepest fears as well as steal the souls of it's victims in order to gain more power. He was also powered by several doz en anomaly cores....not a pretty sight.
